New Mercedes-AMG GT R Pro revealed

ABU DHABI: Mercedes-AMG has revealed the 2020 GT R Pro at the 2018 Los Angeles Auto Show. The manufacturer has added the vehicle as the range-topping variant in the AMG GT line up.

New Mercedes-AMG GT R Pro exterior

The 2020 Mercedes-AMG GT R comes with carbon fibre aero bits which make it look pretty aggressive and also help enhance the performance on the track. At the front, a brand new large splitter having small canards is mounted to improve the airflow. The new vents are also installed on the top of the wheel arches, and the fender vents have got larger blades now. Also, the vehicle features a massive rear wing, new wheels, and large rear diffuser.

Get inside the car, and a brand new 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a multimedia display of 10.25-inch are placed on the dash, to welcome you.

New Mercedes-AMG GT R Pro engine

The new Mercedes-AMG GT R Pro is based on the standard GT R model. It derives power from the same 4-litre bi-turbo V8 engine. The mill is capable of churning out a maximum 577 PS of power along with a peak torque of 700 Nm.

The manufacturer has made most of the changes on the aero bits and suspension, which are taken from the GT3 and GT4 race cars of Mercedes-AMG. The GT R Pro comes with a fully adjustable coil-over suspension setup that assists drivers to change the settings, which depend on the track and driving style.

New Mercedes-AMG GT R Pro front

The vehicle also comes with a carbon fibre torsion bar at the front, and that is adjustable. At the rear, it is further joined by a steel unit. The carbon roof features a double bubble-like design. To improve the rigidity, the vehicle has been given a stiffened carbon fibre chassis.

The modifications help to improve the performance of the car, and as a result, the car has recently broken the record at Nurburgring by making a lap time of 7:04.632, which is now 6 seconds less than the standard model of AMG GT R.
