Dubai: The German luxury brand Mercedes-Benz has finally done something it resisted for years. It has put its most important nameplate through a full electric conversion, not just a hybrid update.

The C-Class has been sold as a petrol and diesel sedan since 1993. Clearly, turning a legendary car into a dedicated EV is a bigger commitment than launching another standalone electric model alongside the existing range.

As the table indicates, the range figure alone puts the C-Class Electric ahead of most rivals in this segment, including the BMW i4, its most direct competitor, arriving around the same window. Mercedes has not yet published an EPA estimate for markets that use a strict test cycle. So the headline WLTP number should be treated as a best-case figure rather than a guaranteed everyday result.

Inside The Cabin

Besides the range, charging the cabin is equally important. And here Mercedes has used the C-Class Electric to introduce a design language it plans to spread across its wider EV range. The car features a closed, illuminated grille with up to 1,050 individual LEDs, a deliberate nod to classic Mercedes saloons from decades past rather than the typical EV aesthetic of a blanked-off nose. The cockpit has a 39.1-inch full-width Superscreen, stretching across the dashboard in a way the outgoing petrol C-Class never offered. The front seats come with standard electric adjustment and heating, with ventilation, massage, and 4-way lumbar support available as options. Mercedes also confirms a certified vegan interior option, a detail increasingly common across its EV lineup.

The wheelbase grows by 97 mm compared to the petrol C-Class, translating directly into more rear legroom, a real practical upgrade rather than just a styling exercise.

AMG Version Confirmed

Mercedes-AMG is developing a performance variant of the C-Class Electric, expected in 2027. Early reports suggest this AMG variant will exceed 680 hp, a significant step up from the standard car's 483 hp. For UAE buyers who specifically want AMG performance credentials on an electric platform, this variant is worth waiting for rather than settling for the standard C 400 if outright speed matters most.

For UAE Buyers

The C-Class Electric enters a market where the sedan segment has been shrinking against SUV demand for years. This makes Mercedes' decision to electrify its best-selling sedan a real bet rather than a routine model update.

Official Mercedes-Benz UAE channels, including Gargash in Dubai and the equivalent Abu Dhabi and Al Ain network, already list the all-electric C-Class as available for interest registration. This means it is confirmed for the UAE launch, even though on-road pricing has not been published yet.
