The Mitsubishi Attrage is the sedan counterpart of the Japanese car maker’s smallest offering, the Mirage hatchback. With the car promises a big sedan experience at a small and affordable package, the Mitsubishi Attrage is available with one powertrain in a single GLX variant and eight colour options – Wine Red, Titanium Grey, Black Mica, Red Metallic, Cool Silver, White Solid, White Pearl, and Medium Blue.
On the inside, the Mitsubishi Attrage shares its cabin completely with the Mirage hatchback, which means that the sedan misses out a number of modern-day comfort and convenience features, which are nowadays taken for granted.
The steering wheel is a three-spoke multi-functional unit, which along with a normal looking instrument console, makes up for an uninspiring driver’s cockpit. The centre console has a wide design, which though is let down a bit by the presence of a 2-DIN music system and not a modern-day touchscreen infotainment system.
Thankfully, there are some features like automatic climate control, driver seat height adjustment, keyless entry and electrically adjustable and foldable rearview mirrors which make the Attrage a not so basic vehicle on the inside.
Where the Mitsubishi Attrage manages to bring a smile on your face is the impressive space at the rear, as this compact sedan has generous amount of legroom, knee room, and shoulder room. Even the boot space is quite impressive at 450 litres, giving some cars from one segment above a run for their money.
The Mitsubishi Attrage doesn’t carry the same cosmetic changes which Mitsubishi executed for the Mirage hatchback, which is the reason why the former still looks a bit bland and dated by today’s standards.
At the front, the Mitsubishi Attrage welcomes one with a wide chrome grille, which does get the company of large wraparound headlamps. However, the lack of any LED elements in them makes the overall front fascia look bland and tad too simple. However, the slight chrome garnish around the fog lamps completes the front end of the Attrage.
The Mitsubishi Attrage hasn’t got any noteworthy design element on the side, however, the elongated wheelbase over the Mirage make it look big and properly a sedan. The boot design too is integrated in a not so afterthought way. The car does come with 14-inch alloy wheels to make sure it is a premium sedan. At the back, the Mitsubishi Attrage comes with a simple pair of tail lamps, which though are big in size and go well with the wide design of the boot lid.
The Mitsubishi Attrage shares its basic suspension setup with the Mirage, with Macpherson struts at the front and torsion beam at the rear. The overall suspension setup, given its sedan roots, is on a softer side, which complements the spacious cabin of the Attrage very well. However, the equally soft steering setup is not so engaging in terms of driving appeal.
The Mitsubishi Attrage shares its 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine with its hatchback counterpart, the Mirage, in the same state of tune. What that means is the engine, here in the Mitsubishi Attrage too, is mated to a CVT gearbox and pumps out a maximum power output of 78 PS and a peak torque output of 100 Nm. The Attrage too delivers an identical fuel efficiency of 22.1 kmpl, making it the most fuel economic sedan in the market right now.
The Mitsubishi Attrage covers the basics of safety pretty well, with the compact sedan getting dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, reverse parking sensors, hill start assist, vehicle stability assist and tire pressure monitoring system.
The Mitsubishi Attrage might not be the car, which can pluck the strings of your heart with its not so appealing design and performance. Clearly, the uninspiring driving appeal too ensures that it is not an enthusiast’s choice. However, with a spacious cabin and the impressive fuel efficiency, the Attrage makes up for one sensible choice for those who want a basic entry-level family-oriented sedan.
This four door mini sized Sedan car from the house of Mitsubishi is indeed a delight to drive. The car has no such frills attached to it. But function wise this can be labeled as pretty impressive. Since I use a car more as a utility car this fits my requirement with almost perfection. I commute to work or any
I was quite confused for last few months on which car to buy. I have recently shifted to UAE from India with a prestigious role. Going to office by hiring public car is getting a headache as I often tend to get late. I was looking for a fuel efficient yet remarkable car which I can rely on in every
