KIA Pegas Expert Review
Abhishek Katariya says
The Pegas is a compact sedan, known for its affordability, efficiency, and practicality, which makes it a perfect choice for young first-time buyers, professionals, families, and those looking to upgrade to a new sedan on a tight budget in the UAE. Interestingly, based on the same platform as the Kia Picanto, the Pegas offers the benefits of a sedan, such as a spacious cabin, since its a Kia, a lot features, modern tech and highly regarded for its reliable performance, and hence a great car for daily commute in cities like cities like Dubai and Abu Dhabi or even smaller towns.
The powertrain is familiar and highly robust, comprising a 1.4L four-cylinder petrol engine that has decent figures, 95 hp of power and 132 Nm of torque, paired with a 4-speed automatic transmission. Overall, the sedan is a good balance of responsive performance and equally superior fuel economy. Available at an attractive price range of AED 53,550 - 55,400, some of its key competitors in the segment are Suzuki Ciaz, Nissan Sunny, and Hyundai Accent. Kia promises some of the key ownership benefits with the Pegas, such as lower cost of ownership with greater reliability, advanced safety features, and a comprehensive 5-year warranty, which makes this sedan a value pick.
Interior
Design & Quality
The interior of the Kia Pegas awaits surprise, even for a compact sedan, the cabin is not just spacious, it feels quite premium, and impresses with clean and subtle design. This is beyond impressive because this is an affordable car, and yet it feels quite premium. You can’t miss the resemblance with the Picanto, a dual-tone black and grey theme, and the quality of the materials is a lot better, higher quality like soft-touch surfaces and artificial leather upholstery (DLX trim). The intuitive design, polished finishes, and tight panel gaps increase your belief in Kia’s commitment to quality and durability. The cabin also has. A 3.8-inch audio display (DLX trim) or 8-inch touchscreen (FOP trim) with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, which is again remarkable for redefining your tech-forward experience. What you also notice is the physical buttons for intuitive control, overall you feel happy with the thoughtfulness behind cabin design, with ample storage and a clutter-free layout.
Front Seat
The front seats have good headroom and shoulder space, and you feel seated at a great height that ensures excellent visibility through a large windshield. The driver’s seat has manual adjustments (8-way power, with supportive cushioning that essentially makes sure your fatigue remains at an absolute low while long commutes in UAE traffic. The artificial leather upholstery serves great comfort and also gives a premium feel, while the multi-function steering wheel with audio controls also adds to the overall convenience.
Electronic Parking Brake
The Pegas uses a traditional handbrake rather than an electronic parking brake, maintaining simplicity and reliability for urban use. Hill-hold assist, standard across trims, helps in stop-and-go traffic or on slight inclines, ensuring ease of operation in cities like Dubai or Sharjah.
Rear Seat
The second-row bench seat is frankly just fine, not much to say about it, rather than to say that given the size of the car, the legroom and headroom appear to be appropriate for three adults, owing to the Pegas’s tall, boxy proportions; however, it is best for two for long drives. The 60:40 split-folding seats option can be exercised for cargo and passengers as per need, while ISOFIX anchors could be useful for families with young children. Rear air vents (FOP trim) are a great feature for comfort in the UAE’s intense heat, but there is a folding armrest, an obvious cost-cutting measure, which may be of some inconvenience. But that doesn’t take away the overall positive aspects of the rear seat, where comfort is well looked after.
AC Vents
The Pegas get manual climate control (DLX trim) or automatic climate control FOP trim), with front and rear AC vents (DLX trim) that effectively take care of the UAE’s rather harsh temperatures.
Storage Options
The Pegas’s cabin is designed for practicality, with a centre console for small items like phones or keys, door-mounted cubbies, and 1-litre bottle holders in each door. A glove box, cup holders, and a pocket behind the passenger seat are all well-positioned and equipped to offer great storage capacity in the cabin, while a concealed compartment under the cargo floor adds versatility.
Armrest
The driver’s armrest (DLX trim) is padded for comfort and doubles as a storage compartment for small items like wallets or chargers. Its placement supports a relaxed driving posture, while a rear armrest (FOP trim) significantly boosts passenger comfort on longer journeys.
Charging Options
The Pegas offers USB ports in both front and rear rows (DLX trim), a 12V socket, and a power outlet, for connectivity of smartphones and other devices. The charging options minimise cable clutter, making the cabin practical for tech-savvy UAE drivers. The absence of a wireless charging pad is a minor omission in this budget-friendly segment.
Boot Space
As a sedan body style means, one advantage of the Pegas is a generous 475 litres of cargo space, and much larger than its key rivals in the segment, which should attract families to this car, as they prefer a bigger boot. Also, this space can be further expanded by the 60:40 split-folding rear seats, so you can carry larger items during a family vacation or other outdoor needs. We found the access to the boot is quick and easy, and also a concealed storage compartment adds versatility.

It has a 4,300 mm in length, 1,700 mm in width, and 1,460 mm in height, with a decent 150 mm ground clearance, seems to be ideal for most of the UAE roads, and also provides the ability to take on uneven and rough driving conditions. The car’s aerodynamic body language with clean lines and Kia’s well-known tiger-nose grille, and stylish sunroof are some of the key aspects of the exterior. This appears to give the Pegas a modern and stylish look, which is most likely targeted at Gen Z and also professionals who prefer sophistication.
Front
The front fascia of the Pegas has several elements that define its overall look, like the grille finished with chrome accents on the upper and lower edges, which makes it premium and appealing. At the same time, it provides better airflow for engine cooling in the UAE’s extreme heat. The large, block-themed halogen headlights are modern, integrated with Daytime Running Lights (DRLs). The rounded fog lamps, provided with a trapezoidal air dam, add a decent look for the front, and also a big safety feature during low-visibility conditions like early morning fog. Likewise, the vertical air curtain intakes in gloss black give the sedan a sporty look, and the broad bumper creates an appealing high waistline, provides a shield for the body and improves aerodynamics.
Side
From the side, the Pegas looks classic with a proportionate profile, and stands out from its Picanto sibling owing to a bigger body line as a sedan.. The rounded wheel arches and clean door panels are examples of simplicity, while chrome door handles and power-adjustable side mirrors with integrated LED indicators are for extra premium flair. Black cladding along the lower body helps protect against minor city scrapes. The side profile’s glossy lines and compact size are some key strengths of the car. footprint makes it ideal for tight parking spaces in UAE cities.
Alloy Wheels
The Pegas is provided with 14-inch steel wheels with covers on the DLX and 14-inch alloy wheels on the POP trim, fitted with 175/65R14 tires. What is special about these tires is their reliable traction on city roads and highways, as well as the aesthetically appealing design. It is not hard to make out the tire sizes, as they strike a delicate balance between fuel efficiency and grip, and so Pegas takes on UAE’s varied driving conditions, right from smooth asphalt to occasional gravel paths.
Rear
The rear of the Pegas is functional yet stylish, largely dominated by the attractively designed tail lights. The rear wiper and washer allow clear visibility in dusty or rainy conditions, and reflectors boost safety in low-light scenarios. The truck’s low liftover height essentially makes access super easy and loading is effortless, especially during filling with big bags. This suggests a lot of focus on practicality and making everyday access to the boot a lot easier.
Colors
The Kia Pegas is available in six colours in the UAE, including Clear White, Titanium Silver, Marcato Red, Aurora Black Pearl, Flash Yellow, and Blue Stream.
