Updated Mercedes S-Class and Maybach S-Class Make Their Middle East Debut in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi: If you have ever dreamed of owning a Mercedes S-Class, here is some news worth a cup of coffee. On November 3, 2026, Mercedes-Benz unveiled the updated S-Class and the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class at Emirates Palace Mandarin Oriental in Abu Dhabi, marking their first appearance in the Middle East. UAE prices and delivery dates are not out yet, but there is already plenty to know.

What Exactly Was Unveiled in Abu Dhabi

Two cars took the stage: the updated S-Class and the Maybach S-Class, the more exclusive, chauffeur-friendly version. According to Mercedes-Benz, more than half of the standard S-Class's components, about 2,700 parts, were developed or revised. That covers technology, engines and design.

What Is New on the Outside

The changes are easy to spot, and they make the car look more confident.

What Has Changed Inside the Cabin

Step inside and the dashboard has been updated, with the new MBUX Superscreen sitting beneath one continuous glass surface. There is also a small change many drivers will like. After customer feedback, Mercedes has brought back physical rocker and roller controls for selected steering-wheel functions, while keeping capacitive controls too. Sometimes a real button is simply easier.

The car also gets the new Mercedes-Benz Operating System, called MB.OS. It connects the infotainment, the driver-assistance functions and the vehicle's other systems, and it supports over-the-air updates, so the car can be updated without a trip to the workshop.

What Makes the Maybach Extra Special

The Maybach S-Class is all about rear-seat comfort and personal choice. Mercedes-Benz highlights these features:

• MANUFAKTUR personalisation: More than 150 exterior paint colours and over 400 interior colour options, plus extra finishes and materials
• MAYBACH Driving Mode: Smoother acceleration and more comfort for rear passengers
• Predictive AIRMATIC Suspension: Uses road-condition data, including Car-to-X information, to adjust damping before certain bumps
• Rear comfort: Powered comfort doors, reclining executive rear seats and optional rear entertainment displays with built-in cameras for video calls, depending on model and spec
• Extra sound insulation: Measures to reduce road and wind noise

What About the Engines

The updated S-Class range includes revised V8 and six-cylinder engines, along with plug-in hybrid options, all aimed at better performance, efficiency and refinement. Internationally, the Maybach S 580 uses a 4.0L twin-turbo V8 mild-hybrid engine, while the Maybach S 680 keeps its 6.0L V12 in the US and selected markets. 

Mercedes-Benz has not yet confirmed which engines and variants will be sold in the UAE, and power and torque figures have not been shared.
