BMW 7 Series

The interior philosophy has shifted significantly for the German brand. Previous 7 Series generations were built around the driving experience first and the rear seat second. The current generation reverses that balance for the UAE and GCC markets, and it shows from the moment a rear passenger opens that long door and sits down. The panoramic glass roof floods the cabin with light, while the Merino leather upholstery features contrast piping, and the crystal gear selector is sourced from Swarovski. The Bowers & Wilkins Diamond surround audio system, along with the optional 31.3-inch Theatre Screen that folds down from the front passenger seat headrest, creates a rear environment that represents the most ambitious feature the 7 Series has ever offered in this market. The BMW Curved Display at the front is the same coherent 12.3-inch-plus-14.9-inch combined display found in other G-series BMWs, but the rear passenger experience has never been so thoroughly considered before in a 7 Series.

Front Seat

The front seats across all UAE variants offer full power adjustment with heating, ventilation, and memory function. The driver benefits from the familiar BMW M Sport steering wheel, the head-up display, and the BMW Curved Display in the driver’s line of sight. For buyers who drive themselves in a 7 Series, this is a premium and well-resolved driver’s environment. For chauffeur-driven buyers, the front seat is simply the space that gets them where they need to go.

Electronic Parking Brake

The 7 Series comes with an electronic parking brake with an Auto Hold function standard across all variants.

Rear Seat

The rear seat is a real big deal, one of the key reasons owners shop for this sedan. BMW knows it well, and it is quite evident. The extended Li wheelbase translates to rear legroom that is generous rather than merely sufficient. The features include individually reclining rear seats, rear-seat heating and ventilation on upper grades, a massage function on the 760Li, and executive lounge seating that raises and adjusts the rear seat. The optional 31.3-inch Theatre Screen creates a rear environment that competes directly with the S-Class for the first time in the model’s history. It is fair to say that the current-generation 7 Series is far more evolved than its predecessors.

AC Vents

The top-end premium sedan experience demands rear climate comfort, and the 7 Series offers it properly:

• Four-zone automatic climate control with rear passenger independent temperature management is standard on all variants.
• Dedicated rear console climate panel for direct rear passenger control without interacting with the driver.
• Rear AC vents in the rear console and B-pillar for targeted second-row airflow.
• Air quality sensing with automatic recirculation to manage the UAE urban air quality during city commuting.

Storage Options

The 7 Series cabin storage clearly reflects the executive brief across front and rear:

• Centre console storage bin with covered lid and premium lining.
• Front door pockets for bottles and daily items.
• Rear door pockets for executive passengers.
• Front and rear cup holders.
• Rear centre console with storage and cup holders integrated into the lounge centre console.
• Upper and lower glove box.

Armrest

The front armrest with storage is standard, while the rear center-console armrest is integrated into the executive rear lounge console on upper grades, padded, and wide with cup holder integration. As one might expect, material quality is consistent with the 7 Series’ flagship brief throughout.

Charging Options

• Wireless charging front and rear.
• USB outlets in the front and rear.
• Accessory power outlets are standard.
• Rear passenger dedicated charging outlets on executive-grade specifications.

Boot Space

The 7 Series has 515 litres of boot space in its Li wheelbase configuration, which is competitive for the flagship sedan class and sufficient for executive travel requirements. The S-Class offers a comparable figure. The boot-lid aperture and the organized loading floor are at the quality level the 7 Series’ positioning requires. This is not a practical family hauler’s boot, but an executive transport boot, and it is sized correctly for that purpose.

Being the flagship of the brand, the 7 Series is offered with BMW’s most comprehensive Active Driving Assistant Professional features.

• Forward Collision Warning with Automatic Emergency Braking, including pedestrian and cyclist detection.
• Lane Departure Warning with active Lane Keep Assist and evasion support.
• Blind Spot Detection with active avoidance assist.
• Rear Cross Traffic Alert.
• Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop and Go and steering assist.
• Active Lane Change Assist.
• Parking Assist with 360 degree surround view and remote parking.
• Automatic high beam control.
• Night Vision with pedestrian and animal detection highlighting on the head-up display.
• Head-Up Display with navigation and safety alerts.
• Tyre Pressure Monitoring System.
• ABS with EBD and Brake Assist.
• Dynamic Stability Control.
• Electronic Parking Brake with Auto Hold.
• Front, side, curtain, knee, and rear airbags.
• ISOFIX mounts.

For decades now, the 7 Series has always carried a more guarded design language. The latest one moves away from that completely, and now you get the split headlamp design, with a slim upper blade daytime running light and the main light unit lower in the bumper, creating the most distinctive front face in the flagship sedan segment. The illuminated kidney grille is the first thing you notice when the car approaches in the dark, and in a Dubai hotel drop-off environment, it makes a statement that the S-Class’s more conservative front does not. The bonnet pressings, the frameless kidney surround, and the overall width of the face give the 7 Series a confidence that previous generations occasionally lacked.

Side

At 5,238 mm long, the 7 Series is quite large for its segment, and the extended Li wheelbase in the UAE specification gives the side profile the long, flowing elegance that flagship sedan proportions require. The frameless door windows, the flush door handles, the chrome window surround, and the rear passenger door that is deliberately longer than the front door to signal the priority of rear-seat access all read correctly at this price level. The illuminated kidney grille provides a unique recognition detail that makes the 7 Series identifiable in a Business Bay valet queue or on Abu Dhabi Corniche.

Alloy Wheels

The UAE 7 Series range gets 20-inch alloy wheels on the 735Li and 740Li grades and 21-inch M light alloy wheels on the 760Li xDrive. At 20 inches, the tyre sidewall provides the comfortable ride that passengers in the flagship sedan expect. The 21-inch setup on the 760Li is the performance visual choice, and the trade-off is a marginally firmer ride that the V8’s character invites buyers to accept.

Rear

The rear is composed and purposeful, with the horizontal LED taillamp graphic spanning the full width of the car; the chrome connecting strip between the lamps, the concealed exhaust tips integrated into the lower bumper, and the rear spoiler edge on the boot lid create a tail that is wide, authoritative, and finished at a level consistent with the car’s flagship positioning. The concealed exhaust tips are a design choice that divides opinion: some consider them cleaner and more elegant; others miss the traditional twin tailpipe statement. The rear side-glass area and the overall rear stance make the extended wheelbase proportions look correct from any angle.

City Performance

The 7 Series in most city conditions here in the UAE is a different kind of daily experience from every other BMW. The 7 Series is not designed to be a driver’s city car like the X5 or the 5 Series; that is a well-established fact.

• And the reason is that, at 5,238 mm, the 7 Series needs space. There are features like Parking Assist with a 360-degree surround view and available remote parking via smartphone that are not optional confidence features. They are simply part of the reality of parking a vehicle of this length across some key areas of the city.
• The soft air suspension in Comfort mode on Dubai city roads makes rear passengers comfortable. The 735Li and 740Li rear-wheel-drive configuration means the 7 Series easily glides over Sheikh Zayed Road expansion joints with the floating quality that executive passengers expect and buyers in this segment want.
• The mild hybrid assist on the inline-six variants reduces the fuel penalty of stop-start Abu Dhabi Corniche morning traffic rather well.
• Professional chauffeur drivers who transition to the 7 Series from a Land Cruiser or Lexus LS note the steering precision and the vehicle’s composed city manners as the immediate surprise.

Highway Performance

What is absolutely clear is that the 7 Series earns its position, but on the highway, its engineering ambition becomes most obvious.

• With massive power, the 760Li xDrive’s 4.4L twin-turbo V8 at 544 hp covers the Abu Dhabi to Dubai highway with ease. The 0 to 100 km/h acceleration time of 4.3 seconds for a 5,238 mm sedan is accompanied by a V8 engine note that the inline-six variants cannot match, making it one of the most impressive features of the sedan.
• The 740Li and 740Li xDrive with the 3.0L inline-six mild hybrid are the right highway companions for buyers who cover the E11 regularly but do not need V8 theater. As expected, the cabin remains extremely quiet even at high speeds, making this vehicle a true luxury on wheels.
• The Adaptive Cruise Control manages the full Abu Dhabi to Dubai run cleanly, and rear passengers need never shift their attention away from the Theatre Screen or a business call.
The 7 Series delivers a highway experience that is not exactly on the same level as its rivals.

Ride and Handling

The G70’s ride character is the most deliberate repositioning in the 7 Series’ history with this generation.

• So the air suspension in Comfort mode is the most comfort-focused calibration any 7 Series has offered yet. In places like the E11 or the Abu Dhabi Corniche, rear passengers experience a true floating quality that previous generations reserved for Rolls-Royce customers. BMW has significantly shifted the 7 Series ride calibration toward the comfort end of the spectrum.
• In Sport mode, the driver gains access to the noticeably firmer handling capabilities of the 760Li. But Sport mode is not the primary mode for the typical UAE buyer’s use case.
• The executive lounge rear seat option with its additional isolation and adjustable ride settings, takes rear-seat comfort further still.
• Anyone looking for the most driver-engaged experience in this segment should spend time in the Porsche Panamera before deciding; the 7 Series is right there.

735Li

This variant gets the 3.0L inline-six at 286 hp; the Curved Display, full comfort and safety equipment, and extended Li wheelbase rear-seat experience are all present. This is a complete flagship sedan at its entry price, and the 735Li is rear-wheel drive, which is not a limitation from a practical point of view.

740Li and 740Li xDrive

This mid-range 7 Series is the most suitable specification for most UAE private buyers. The 740Li and 740Li xDrive feature a 3.0L inline-six engine with increased output, heating and ventilation for the front seats, a sunroof, and, in the case of the xDrive grade, all-wheel drive that provides additional confidence in the sedan.

760Li xDrive

At the top end is the variant that features the most significant performance element, the V8, which is a key factor in defining the 7 Series range. The 4.4L twin-turbo V8 at 544 hp is immense and incredibly powerful, touching the 4.3-second 0 to 100 km/h mark. The features include massage front seats, the head-up display, adaptive cruise control, the Theatre Screen, the executive lounge rear seat, and the Bowers & Wilkins Diamond audio on this grade, creating the most complete rear-seat experience BMW has offered. For buyers choosing between the 760Li and the S-Class, the 760Li is the variant where the comparison is genuinely close.

Zigwheels Recommendation

Clearly, the 740Li xDrive is the right choice for most buyers in this segment in almost every respect. It has the full 7 Series rear-seat and technology experience with xDrive AWD and a far stronger engine without the V8 running costs. However, choose the 760Li if the V8 character and the absolute top specification are non-negotiable to you.

The 760Li is ultimate luxury from a German brand, and the seventh-generation 7 Series is the model that finally takes it to a different level. This model is a serious rival to the famous S-Class for rear-seat-focused buyers.
What is now offered with this luxury sedan is the extended Li wheelbase, the executive rear-seat experience, the optional Theatre Screen, and the comfort-oriented air-suspension calibration, showing that BMW deliberately chose to compete for the rear-seat buyer in this generation.
There is a lot to this premium sedan that buyers look for, and it continues to define the top-end luxury segment. The familiar but proven V8, the dynamic suspension modes, and the BMW chassis character remain for buyers who want both experiences. At the top of the market, the 7 Series’ charm continues to attract, and this is what our experience with the car ultimately proved.
