2023 Toyota Camry: Variants Explained

The 2023 Toyota Camry is a stylish sedan in the UAE market and is popular among both first-time buyers as well as upgrading customers. The sedan is built on the TNGA design language and looks a lot sportier than the previous generation model. It was launched back in February 2023 and was named the “Best Midsize Car” by WhatCar, a British-based auto magazine.

The Toyota Camry is available in two engine trims - 2.5-litre and 3.5-litre. Each of these two engine trims is available in two variants, the 2.5-litre is available in S and SE, while the bigger trim is available in 40th Anniversary and Sport trims.

The Toyota Camry S and SE trims have identical numbers in terms of length, width, height, weight, and even storage capacity. However, the difference comes in the bigger engine variants - 40th Anniversary and Sport. The top two trims are slightly longer and heavier than the bottom two trims.

Engine

The 2023 Toyota Camry is offered in two engine trims across variants. The smaller engine is a 2.5-litre 4-cylinder unit that produces 204 horsepower at 6,600 rom, and a peak torque of 243 Nm, which comes somewhere between 4,000 and 5,000 rpm. The produced power is sent down to the wheels via an 8-speed automatic gearbox.

On the other hand, the bigger 3.5-litre engine powers the top two trims. The engine is a V6 mill that produces 298 horsepower at 6,600 RPM, along with a peak torque of 356 Nm, coming at 4,700 rpm. The transmission duties are done by the same 8-speed automatic gearbox.

Being one of the premium midsize sedans, the car gets a lot of premium features across its variants. However, the base S variant does not get a sunroof, while the top-of-the-line trim gets a panoramic sunroof. The base variant also gets only a manual AC system, while all the other trims feature an automatic climate. As for safety, the base variant gets just two airbags, while all the other variants get different side and curtain airbags as well.

The S trim rides on 16-inch steel wheels, while the SE gets 17-inch alloys. The top trims get bigger 18-inch alloys. The base variant even gets fabric seats and standard steering covers, while the SE gets a leather-trimmed steering wheel. Further, the 40th Anniversary and Sport even get leather seats.

Which Toyota Camry variant should you buy?

The 2023 Toyota Camry charges a premium for its top models, while the base is no less too. So, AED 98,900 for a variant that offers manual AC, small steel wheels, and just two airbags doesn’t seem a great value for money. Instead, it would be of greater value if buyers added a few thousand bucks to get at least the SE or higher trims.
