There are two additional exclusive Limited Edition variants on offer for a limited duration too – GXL First Edition (AED 234,900) and Adventure First Edition (AED 264,900).

Measuring 4,925mm long, 1,980mm wide, and 1,935mm tall, the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado ranks as a full-size luxury SUV, offering ample legroom, knee room, headroom, and shoulder room in the first and second rows of seats. The 2,850mm wheelbase provides plenty of space and comfort for the second-row occupants.

There is a third row of seats on offer too, which though lacks in knee room and legroom, is best suitable only for kids. The Land Cruiser Prado has restricted boot space with all three rows of seats up. However, while the third row offers 50:50 split functionality, the second row provides 60:40 split functionality, which opens up more space in the cabin, if required. Toyota hasn’t disclosed the boot space figures of the Land Cruiser Prado.

In the UAE, the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado is offered solely with a 2.4-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, which powers all the variants of the SUV. Paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission as standard in all variants, this turbo-petrol engine produces a maximum power output of 270 PS and a maximum torque output of 430 Nm. 

What’s the mileage of the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado?

For the Land Cruiser Prado, Toyota claims a maximum fuel efficiency figure of 10.6 kmpl for the 2.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine powering all the variants of the SUV. 

How safe is the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado?

For those who want to opt for the traditional way, the SUV has colour options like Attitude Black, Platinum White Pearl, Black, Super White, and Dark Gray. The remaining colour options like Avant Garde Bronze, Smoky Blue with a Light Grey roof, and Sand combined with a Light Grey roof, make the Land Cruiser Prado stand out with their unique shades. 

Should you buy the 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado?

In the past, the Toyota Land Cruiser has always enjoyed a tremendous reputation as a supremely reliable SUV with a smart road presence. With this latest generation version, the Land Cruiser Prado sticks to its traditional roots, while also offering new-age features and a more comfortable cabin.

The neo-retro-themed design of the new Toyota Land Cruiser Prado certainly makes it look even better, while the plusher cabin with more contemporary features now makes it even more premium in feel. While the turbo-petrol engine might not offer exceptional fuel economy, it makes up for the shortcomings with its reliability and enhanced power in the mid-range. 

What are my alternatives?

Being a traditional ladder-on-frame Japanese SUV, the traditional and direct rivals of the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado in the UAE are Nissan Patrol and Mitsubishi Pajero. However, for the price points at which its variants are on sale, the other alternatives of the Land Cruiser Prado are premium monocoque SUVs like Jeep Grand Cherokee, Ford Explorer, Chevrolet Traverse, Volkswagen Teramont, Cadillac XT6, Dodge Durango, GAC GS8 and Lincoln Corsair.

Other things to consider:

If you want something bigger, more luxurious, and more powerful SUV within Toyota’s stable, you can opt for the Toyota Land Cruiser LC300 at a not-so-huge premium over the Land Cruiser Prado. The 2024 Prado has just been launched and is here to stay without much change.
