Cabin

The cabin's architecture is modern and driver-focused without being aggressive. A 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster sits behind the flat-bottom steering wheel. The touchscreen infotainment displays, 10.25-inch and 12.3-inch, sit centrally on the dashboard. The wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and wireless charging are standard from the base. The floating-style center console with the electronic gear selector creates a clean horizontal surface between the front seats.

The Sonata's cabin-specific feature that no direct competitor currently offers at this price is solar-reflective glass; the rear windows and windshield carry a solar-reflective treatment that reduces interior cabin temperature build-up when parked in direct UAE sun. On an Abu Dhabi July afternoon after two hours in an outdoor car park, the Sonata's cabin temperature on entry is measurably cooler than a car without this glass treatment. The material quality across the Sonata cabin feels right for the price.

Front Seat

To make the driver's and co-passenger's lives comfortable, there is a power-adjustable driver's seat, heated front seats, and ventilated front seats. The driver's memory seat function and passenger memory function also offered a cabin feature that two front occupants who regularly share the car will use daily. In contrast, the N Line features sportier seat bolstering and upholstery that is specific to the N Line.

Electronic Parking Brake

The electronic parking brake with Auto Hold is standard across all four Sonata variants, as is Hill Start Assist.

Rear Seat

The 2,840 mm wheelbase is the Sonata's rear seat; it requires clarification. The front legroom is exceptional. The rear legroom is adequate but less generous than the wheelbase suggests; this is because the fastback roofline and the seat packaging focus on total cabin volume differently from a conventional three-box executive sedan. Two adults at the average UAE resident height sit comfortably, but taller ones might feel the squeeze.

AC Vents

The center front armrest with storage is standard throughout. The rear center armrest folds from the rear seatback and is standard from the Premium Plus.

Boot Space

With 480 liters, Sonata's boot is practical and functional for its segment and buyer profile. The boot lid's fastback-influenced slope does not compress the cargo floor depth as severely as the Elantra's does; the Sonata is a longer, more conventionally proportioned executive body, and the boot reflects that.

The Sonata front has Hyundai's Sensuous Sportiness design language. A wide cascading grille spans the lower front fascia, and parametric LED headlamps sit high on the bonnet and are flanked by a graphic that integrates into the bonnet edge, a design decision that creates a wider, more horizontal front face than any competitor in the segment at this price. The LED DRLs and automatic headlamps are standard, giving the car a real distinctive look. 

Side

The Sonata's side profile has this hidden A-pillar design; the A-pillar is thin and visually flows into the side glass in a way that creates a near-pillarless appearance when the front window is down. The shoulder line drops slightly toward the rear, which is an unusual and deliberate design inversion that gives the Sonata a longer, lower visual stance. Turn-signal-integrated power-folding mirrors are standard. 

Alloy Wheels

The Sonata runs on 17-inch alloy wheels with 215/55 R17 tires on the Comfort Plus. The Premium Plus and N Line step up to 18-inch and 19-inch alloys, respectively, with lower-profile tires.

Rear

The Sonata has sequential LED taillamps; the light sequence travels outward from the center to the edge on indicator activation, a dynamic detail that is visible in the rearview mirror of following traffic and consistently draws attention. The rear glass carries a gentle fastback slope above the rear spoiler.

City Performance

• For the daily gridlock of city traffic, the Sonata is rather well-tuned with a 2.5-liter naturally aspirated petrol and with 8 speed automatic, and it feels smooth, relaxed, and extremely quiet in the cabin.
• The 8-speed automatic manages city gearing early and holds gears without looking, and the driving experience in stop-and-go is more composed than the Nissan Altima's CVT in the same conditions, though they each have their own character.
• The 191 hp in a 4,910 mm executive body is not a big deal to navigate the sand; rather, it moves through city traffic smoothly and confidently.
• However, if you want to feel pulled forward from every signal, you should experience the N Line before deciding on the variants.

Highway Performance

• You can actually think of using the Sonata for E11 to Abu Dhabi and back five days a week. This is because during long highway commutes, a car can make the distance feel shorter, not due to speed, but because of its composure and technology.
• The Sonata's 8-speed automatic on the highway is one of the smoother transmissions in this class at sustained motorway speeds. 
• Even at over 120 speeds, the engine settles nicely, the cabin quiets, and the sealed body structure keeps wind intrusion in the background. You have Adaptive Cruise Control to reduce fatigue on long highway drives. 
• The N Line's 290 hp turbocharged engine and dual-clutch transmission change the Sonata's highway identity entirely if you choose the variants. With a full-throttle E311 outside-lane overtake, the high speed provides a response that the standard 2.5-liter executive sedan in this segment cannot match; the N Line's acceleration from 100 to 140 km/h is quick, and the dual-clutch's highway downshift is cool rather than leisurely.

Ride and Handling

• The Sonata's suspension, MacPherson strut front and multi-link rear, is tuned for the comfort-oriented D-segment buyer, and it does its best.
• On the E11's well-maintained and smooth new roads of Dubai Hills and Abu Dhabi's Al Reem Island, the Sonata glides. The multi-link rear handles small surface variations with composure that the torsion beam rear setups of smaller sedans cannot match in the same conditions. 
• The 2,840 mm wheelbase provides highway-speed directional stability. 

• For the most part, the steering is light and accurate, suitable for a comfort-oriented executive sedan. Buyers who have driven an Altima or an Accord and love their steering may find the Sonata less engaging in this specific dimension.
• The body roll in rapid lane changes is controlled and within the executive sedan norms. The Sonata is not attempting to be sporty in the standard petrol variants.
• The N Line's suspension tuning is noticeably firmer; the N-specific calibration tightens the body roll and quickens the steering response. On smooth highways and new community roads, the N Line handles with genuine confidence.

Hyundai Sonata Comfort Plus

Like any lineup, this variant offers you a complete base spec. Suitable for any primary family car with regular rear passengers and highway commuting, the active safety concession is worth studying before you make a decision.

Hyundai Sonata Hybrid Smart Plus

This model is a real differentiator in the lineup with a hybrid powertrain. Especially suitable for UAE buyers whose primary concern is weekly fuel cost on the Abu Dhabi to Dubai commute, the hybrid's improved fuel efficiency is the only justification for this variant. The Hybrid's feature specification is not meaningfully different from the Comfort Plus, and it carries the same active safety limitations. 

Hyundai Sonata Premium Plus 

This variant, as the name suggests, gets you a full ownership experience at the right price. Here, there are heated and ventilated front seats, driver and passenger memory, a 360-degree camera, an Around View Monitor, a Head-Up Display, adaptive cruise control, forward collision avoidance, blind spot warning, lane tracing assist, and a 12.3-inch touchscreen. The N Line is the variant where the Sonata's intended specification becomes fully obvious. 

Hyundai Sonata N Line 

With this one, Hyundai tries to offer a performance option for this sedan. There is an N Line-specific exterior kit, ambient interior lighting, and a power boot. Performance-oriented suspension calibration and N-specific seats complete the package. For a UAE buyer who wants a real performance executive sedan, the N Line is it.

Zigwheels Recommendation

Our choice is the Premium Plus variant, and here are the reasons. The Comfort Plus covers daily comfort essentials but misses key safety features. The Hybrid is suitable only for buyers who have calculated fuel savings and prioritize economy over having the complete ADAS suite. However, the Premium Plus mostly covers everything and is also not that expensive in the grand scheme of things. Choose the N Line if you are a performance-oriented driver; otherwise, stick to the Premium Plus.

The Sonata appears to take a distinctly different route from the segment it is known for. While we see most rivals focus on quiet familiarity, the Sonata is built for buyers who want their everyday car to feel quite engaging, not just efficient.

The ideal buyers are professionals and families who have moved past entry-level experience and are looking for a luxurious presence, a personal touch, and a sense of upgrade in what they drive. For the most part, the Sonata seems to offer everything through its design-first approach and “a driving character that feels more purposeful rather than completely neutral. 

Like most Hyundai cars, what stands out is the brand's willingness to stretch the definition of an executive sedan. It doesn’t actually dilute comfort or usability, but gives a layer of personality that is often missing in this category. Even in daily use, it feels less like a default choice and more like a considered one. If you put it against direct rivals, including the Camry and Altima, the Sonata feels less predictable, essentially a sedan that highlights clear desirability.
