Hyundai Ioniq 9 Updates
When Hyundai introduced the Ioniq 5, everyone thought it was radical, futuristic and something Hyundai had probably never done before. But then Hyundai cars introduced its new flagship EV, the Ioniq 9, and it blew everyone out of the water. And Hyundai says the Ioniq 9 has upped the 5 in almost every way while bringing a bit extra in every aspect.
Price
Hyundai hasn’t yet launched the car in the UAE. That said, the expected Hyundai Ioniq 9 price in the UAE won’t be anything less than the AED 270,000 mark. Yes, that makes it an expensive car but the Ioniq 9 packs a punch and is loaded to the T with features, so it’s unreasonable to expect it to be very affordable.
Variants
There will probably be only 1 Hyundai Ioniq 9 variant on offer here in the UAE. And that variant will be the long-range RWD one. Yes, that’s only rear wheel drive and the car will not be offered as an all wheel drive.
Engine & Performance
The Hyundai Ioniq 9 motor in the long-range RWD trim is a 160kW rear motor. That means it makes nearly 215HP, a figure that’s pretty good for this segment.
Safety
Talking about safety, the Hyundai Ioniq 9 specifications list is packed as well. Passenger airbags, power door locks, central locking, driver airbags, ABS, EBD, traction control, seat belt warning, day & night rear view mirror and a rear camera, the basics are all sorted out.
Going up the ladder, there are more sophisticated features on offer as well. These include parking sensors, a parking assist system, door ajar warning, speed sensing door locks, an engine immobilizer and even a lane change indicator. Rounding things off, there’s even a fire extinguisher and obviously a proper first aid kit.
Features & Specifications
There are a whole bunch of Hyundai Ioniq 9 features on offer too. The TFT infotainment system is a massive 12.3 inch one and is obviously touch sensitive along with Bluetooth connectivity, Apple carplay and Android auto. There is wireless charging, physical USB charging ports, FM, a radio as well as multiple very well tuned speakers.
The Hyundai Ioniq 9 interior looks a lot more premium than the average Hyundai car and that’s for good reason, given the car is the brand’s flagship electric SUV. There’s good use of soft plastics all around and the car promises an overall pleasant feeling cabin. Hard plastics are really hard to find and overall there’s absolutely zero feeling of cheapness.
The Hyundai Ioniq 9 exterior is arguably the most stunning part of the car. It’s long, large, loud and super flashy. The sharp edges combined with its creases, slightly boxy SUV design, massive wheels with chunky tyres, alloy wheels and all LED lighting, all give it a bit of a menacing look. There’s also an integrated antenna.
Why choose the Hyundai Ioniq 9?
The Hyundai Ioniq 9 2025 isn’t like the average Hyundai car. It’s not the most practical, the most safe purchase or the most pragmatic choice even. That said, there is nothing else quite like it in the market as of now and in its segment.

Hyundai Ioniq 9 Expert Review
Abhishek Katariya says
Set to become the new flagship born-electric model from Hyundai, the Ioniq 9 is a full-size three-row electric SUV, which will go on sale in global car markets, including the UAE, in the second quarter of 2025. Based on the same E-GMP platform as the other Ioniq models, the new Hyundai Ioniq 9 has a length of 5,060 mm, a width of 1,980 mm, and a height of 1,790 mm, while having a wheelbase of 3,130 mm.
On the outside, the new Hyundai Ioniq has a massive road presence with the Ioniq sub-brand’s design language’s latest form. While the front profile of the SUV has parametrically connected LED DRL and vertical LED headlamps, the rear profile has vertically aligned, slim-looking T-shaped parametric LED tail lamps on the outer edges. Expect the UAE-spec Hyundai Ioniq 9 to get 20-inch and 21-inch alloy wheels.
To be offered with both six-seater and seven-seater configurations, the Ioniq 9 will be Hyundai’s first offering to get fully-reclinable relaxation seats in the first and second rows, with the second-row seats having swivelling feature when the SUV is in the stationary mode. The Ioniq 9 has also been previewed with digital side mirrors with seven-inch OLED monitors in place of conventional rearview mirrors.
The high-tech cabin of the Hyundai Ioniq 9 has been bestowed with new-age 12-inch screens for the instrument console and touchscreen infotainment system, both of which are housed in a curved panoramic cockpit. This SUV also gets e-Active Sound Design for a virtual driving sound experience, with the 14-speaker BOSE audio system having 5.1-channel surround sound elevating the experience.
Made using sustainable materials, the cabin of the Hyundai Ioniq 9 also features a ‘universal island 2.0’ sliding centre console, which accommodates 5.6-litres storage in the upper tray and 12.6-litres in the lower tray. Offering an 88-litre frunk in RWD and 52-litre frunk in AWD versions, the Hyundai Ioniq 9 also has a boot space of up to 620 litres with third-row seats up and up to 1,323 litres with third-row seats folded down.
The upcoming Hyundai Ioniq 9 will be available in both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configurations. The rear-wheel drive version will have a single-motor setup (218 PS and 350 Nm), while the all-wheel drive version will have a dual-motor setup (313 PS and 605 Nm). The all-wheel drive version will also have a Performance variant with two electric motors (436 PS and 700 Nm). A 110.3kWh battery will be offered as standard across the range, which will deliver a maximum possible range of 620 km (WLTP-certified).
Based on the E-GMP platform, the new Hyundai Ioniq 9 will also get Chassis Domain Control for additional stability at higher speeds, along with a Terrain Traction Control system with multiple drive modes, including Auto Terrain Mode for automatic adjustment of suspension setup using AI.
Being a top-of-the-line new-generation electric vehicle, the Ioniq 9 also has a unique EV route planner, battery level indication through the illuminated dots on the steering wheel, dynamic ambient lighting, and Features on Demand (FoD) service through which the user can purchase commodities from the online store.
