Next-Gen Toyota Fortuner Debuts on 1 December: What UAE Buyers Can Expect

Dubai: One of the UAE's best-known family SUVs is about to get a fresh start. Toyota has confirmed that the next-generation Fortuner will make its global debut on 1 December 2026, and reports say it will reach the Middle East next year. 

Toyota has shared very little so far, so most of what follows is expectation rather than fact. We have marked clearly what is confirmed and what is not, so you know where things stand before you plan a purchase.

The Facts We Have So Far

Only two things are firm at this stage. Toyota South Africa confirmed the reveal date, and the report says the Middle East will get the new model "next year" with subtle changes to the design, interior and drivetrain. Everything else, including UAE timing and price, is still open.

When Will It Reach the UAE, and at What Price

If the Middle East does get it next year, the report expects a UAE launch by mid-2027. That is an estimate based on the December reveal, not an official date. Current estimates suggest the new model will cost slightly more than today's model, which starts at AED 128,900 for the 2.7-litre petrol. Please treat that as a guess until Al-Futtaim announces real figures.

Engines: Expect Familiar Names

The new Fortuner is expected to keep the current ladder-frame platform and carry over its engines, based on online rumours. The big question for UAE buyers is the 4.0-litre V6 petrol, which the report is not sure will stay.

Design: A Sharper Face, Same Familiar Shape

Based on test-car spy shots, the changes will focus on the front and rear, with styling inspired by the RAV4 Hybrid. The side view is expected to stay mostly the same, and the size should be roughly unchanged, although no figures are available.

• Rear: new LED lights, new bumper and a roof-mounted spoiler
• Side: new 17-inch and 18-inch alloy wheels

Cabin and Tech: A Big Step Up Expected

The inside is where the new Fortuner could change most. The overall design is inspired by the Land Cruiser Prado and RAV4 Hybrid, similar to the upgrade the new UAE Hilux received.

Safety: More Driver Aids Likely

The details suggest a new autonomous safety assist system, though Toyota has not confirmed the details. It lists adaptive cruise control, lane change assist, blind-spot monitoring and a 360-degree camera.

Should You Wait

If you are planning to buy a Fortuner and can wait a few months, patience makes sense. The new model looks set to bring a modern cabin, more tech and likely stronger safety, while keeping the proven engines buyers trust. The main unknowns are the V6, the price and the exact arrival date.
