Jaguar to halt production of XE, XF and F-Type models

ABU DHABI: Jaguar is preparing for a significant shift by halting production of its F-Type, XE, and XF models within a few weeks. With this, the line-up of this brand will become SUV-only for now.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • Why is Jaguar stopping the production of the F-Type, XE, and XF models?

Jaguar is ceasing the production of the company's F-Type, XE, and XF models in June as its Castle Bromwich site will focus on the production of body panels for a new range of cars to revitalize its product lineup.
  • Which electric car is Jaguar planning to launch in 2025?

In 2025, Jaguar will launch a 600bhp electric four-seat GT car that will have similar configuration to the acclaimed Porsche Taycan.
  • Jaguar's Castle Bromwich site is going through a transformation, slated to stop the production of the company's F-Type, XE, and XF models in June. The facility will now focus on the production of body panels for a new range of cars to revitalise its product lineup.

    Jaguar F-Type

Despite the halt in production of the F-Type, XE, and XF they can be ordered and purchased through the Jaguar website. However, customers currently won’t be able to specify their own configurations meaning these models are being produced as per the already set standards and no longer offer customisable options.

During the Second World War, the Castle Bromwich factory originally served as the production hub for Lancaster and Spitfire planes. Later on, the ownership was taken over by British Leyland. Subsequently, the control was assumed by Jaguar. Under the stewardship of Jaguar, Castle Bromwich produced many iconic vehicles like the XJ and S-Type.

    Jaguar XF

In 2021, the electric XJ project was canceled and the upcoming EV production was relocated to Solihull. Despite facing supply challenges, both the XF and XE saw a significant increase in sales, leaving behind the Solihull-built F-Pace SUV.

In 2025, Jaguar is ready to embark on a new era marked by the launch of a 600bhp electric four-seat GT car with having similar configuration to the acclaimed Porsche Taycan. Following this debut, Jaguar will come up with a luxurious SUV seeking inspiration from the Bentley Bentayga, showcasing the expansion and versatility of the brand into the luxury SUV market category. A large luxury saloon is also decked up to join the lineup.
