One-Off COPO Camaro John Force Edition unveiled at SEMA Show
The gates of SEMA Show have gone wide with automakers marking the occasion in style. Chevrolet doesn’t seem to have left behind as the bow-tie brand presented the one-off COPO Camaro John Force Edition at the show. For Chevrolet lovers, COPO Camaros are not new, however, for unawares, they are limited edition Camaros built especially for NHRA drag racing competition. A total of 69 limited edition machines are produced every year by Chevrolet as a homage to the first COPO produced in 1969.
A total of 70 machines are slated for production in 2020, of which COPO Camaro John Force Edition will be heading to Barrett-Jackson’s Scottsdale auction scheduled to take place in January next year. The proceeds from the sale will go to DonorsChoose.org.
This one-off COPO Camaro is also special because it adorns the name of a legend in the world of NHRA drag racing, John Force, who went on to win 16 championships. The Camaro John Force Edition comes with his name all over the car accentuated with a black and silver paint job. Seven heritage colours along with Satin Steel Gray, Red and Summit White will be available on all the 69 production COPO Camaros.
The interior of the COPO John Force Edition is dressed with red trim, with highlights on the air vents, centre console, flat-bottomed steering wheel, doors and seats. The dash gets John Force signature as well. Under the hood, there will be two engine options to choose from, including an LSX-based supercharged 5.7-litre V8 engine and a 7.0-litre V8 naturally-aspirated engine.
Citing the words of John Force from the Chevrolet’s press release here, he said, “This is a great-looking COPO Camaro, and I enjoyed helping design this car. The COPO Camaro is already a formidable car, and hard to beat on the track. But this one is even more special, as it will help support a cause I firmly believe in.”
You can visit the 2019 SEMA Show in Las Vegas to witness the new and menacing black monster, the 2020 one-off COPO Camaro. The show will conclude on the 8th of November 2019.
