2020 Nissan Sentra - What makes it desirable?
In our opinion, Nissan Sentra is one of the most exciting cars in the segment and now the Japanese carmaker has equipped it with a lot of safety features that are offered as standard. Nissan Introduced the Sentra nameplate 40 years ago and it has been in production ever since. The Sentra is a very important vehicle for Nissan and still, the outgoing model for the UAE is carrying forward the 7th generation global platform and equipment.
Is Nissan Sentra a good car?
Nissan Sentra is a competitively priced sedan that comes loaded with impressive features for the segment. Nissan is also renowned for offering competitively priced products that offer low cost of ownership.
Nissan Sentra features the latest design language which is shared with the likes of the updated Nissan Altima and Nissan Maxima sedans.
Nissan Sentra specs sheet features the company’s xTronic CVT transmission and a powerful engine which it will share with the Nissan Rogue crossover SUV. By the looks of it, the updated Nissan Sentra definitely has all the makings of an upcoming segment leader. This is why, customers can likely avail huge discounts on the outgoing model which other than its narrow and tall design, is a very capable sedan for the segment. As the next generation of Nissan Sentra is probably slated to make its debut in the UAE in a matter of months we decided to list out all aspects that make the current generation one of the most desirable sedans in the segment.
Striking looks
The front end features the same chrome accent grill that was introduced back in 2013. The headlight cluster has been updated and now features LED DRLs. The Illumination duties are taken on by large xenon headlights and fog lamps. As for dimensions, the car is about 3 inches shorter in size as the Toyota Corolla and the segment favourite Honda Civic.
Coming to the rear of the sedan, we find that Nissan has updated the styling of the Sentra to be more reminiscent of that offered in the Altima. The taillights get a combination of both LEDs and incandescent units and the LED treatment is also found on the brake light. The rear of the sedan also features a small lip spoiler and the overall design of the sedan is curvaceous with sculpted lines and as Nissan likes to describe them, “seductive curves”. The design has been developed to be utilitarian and offers one of the most spacious boots in the segment.
Cabin style and amenities
The cabin of the 2020 Nissan Sentra is a much more comfortable place to be in as compared to its predecessor. The company now offers 6-way power-adjustable seats that are comfortable to sit in and offer impressive support. The seats are also offered with perforated leather which comes with both heating and cooling features. The cabin gets a dual-tone black and grey color scheme and customers also get the option of selecting between an all leather or fabric upholstery.
Other standard features include push-button start, a multi-information display, and an 8-inch touch screen infotainment unit. The interior styling also includes wood panels and the cabin space has been intelligently designed to offer maximum head and shoulder room. There are also chrome accents found on the door handles and steering mounted controls are offered as standard across all variants.
Reliability under the hood
Nissan is renowned for offering products that manage to offer segment-leading features at competitive pricing and the ongoing model of Sentra is no different. The 2020 Nissan Sentra is one of the most reliable sedans in the segment and offers highly completive cost of ownership. The powertrain is one of the most reliable in the market and comes equipped with time tested components. There are two engine options on offer across the three trim levels which include a 1.6- liter motor and a top of line 1.8- liter mill. Only the 1.8- liter, 130 bhp powertrain comes mated to a continuously variable transmission whereas the smaller 1.6- liter motor is only offered with a manual gearbox.
