The Magnite
Nissan was missing from the affordable segment in the UAE until it introduced the Magnite compact SUV as a budget pick. It is a reasonably well-built package for buyers who don’t want to spend a lot on an everyday practical SUV.
It comes with a 1.0L turbo petrol engine producing 100 hp, paired with a CVT gearbox and front-wheel drive. It has been on sale in the UAE since March 2025.
The Magnite is clearly a compact car, measuring 3,999 mm in length and riding on 195/60 R16 tyres. The boot size is 336 litres, increasing to 690 litres with the rear seats folded. It also promises good fuel efficiency, making it a good option for affordable Nissan ownership.
It is available in as many as six variants. The Standard is priced at AED 59,900, the S Plus at AED 60,900, the SV at AED 63,900, the SV Plus at AED 64,900, the Kuro at AED 65,900, and the SL at AED 71,900.
Every variant has an 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and a 7-inch digital driver display. The SV gets alloy wheels, LED daytime running lights, and a rear wiper. The SL comes with synthetic leather seats, heated front seats, a 360-degree camera, front parking sensors, and wireless charging.
The safety list is simple, including ABS, stability control, hill start assist, a rear camera, and rear parking sensors.
So, if you want a Nissan on a lower budget, the Magnite is a great choice for first-time buyers or smaller families. It is suitable for both city and highway driving.
The Kicks
The Kicks cost AED 79,900 for the S variant and AED 109,900 for the SR. Every variant has a 2.0L petrol engine producing 142 hp and 190 Nm. That is 42 hp more than the Magnite. The gearbox is a CVT, and the car is front-wheel drive.
It is a bigger car, measuring 4,365 mm in length and 1,800 mm in width. The boot holds 470 litres, and the fuel tank holds 45 litres.
You get to choose from five variants: S, SV, SV Plus, SL, and SR. Since the engine does not change, the extra money buys equipment, not speed.
- S, AED 79,900: Manual air conditioning, four speakers, LED headlights, push-button start, and an electronic parking brake with auto hold.
- SV, AED 86,900: Automatic climate control, wireless charger, alloy wheels, and six speakers.
- SV Plus, AED 94,900: A higher safety package, which includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, blind spot warning, rear cross-traffic alert, and intelligent high beam.
- SL, AED 109,900: Adds a panoramic sunroof, synthetic leather seats, a 360-degree camera, front and rear parking sensors, and ProPILOT, Nissan’s driver-assistance system.

Screen sizes go up to 12.3-inch displays with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto on higher variants, while the S has 7-inch and 8-inch displays. Clearly, the jump from the S to the SV Plus is AED 15,000, and it is mostly about safety. Many buyers will find that the SV Plus is the one to look at.
The X-Trail
The X-Trail is a larger SUV with a 2.5L petrol engine producing 181 hp and 244 Nm. The gearbox is an automatic CVT with paddle shifters. There is no diesel option.
The ground clearance is 212 mm, and the fuel tank holds 55 litres. The car is 4,680 mm long and 1,840 mm wide. The boot holds 550 litres in the five-seat version. It grows further with the rear seats folded; confirm the exact seven-seat and folded-seat figures with Nissan before buying.
The technology is clearly the best of the three, with a 12.3-inch digital driver display and a 12.3-inch central screen on higher variants. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included, and higher variants get a 10-speaker Bose system. A head-up display is offered on the SL only.
You get multiple airbags, including front, side, curtain, and knee airbags on equipped variants. Driver assistance includes adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, lane departure warning, forward collision warning, traffic sign recognition, and high beam assist. Higher variants add ProPILOT. Hill Descent Control is standard.

The seven-seat S 4WD costs only AED 1,500 more than the five-seat one. For a family, that is a small price for two extra seats. Remember that third-row seats in this class suit children best.
Who should buy what?
- First car, city driving: Undoubtedly the Magnite, as it has the lowest price and low running costs, along with basic safety features.
- Couples and small families who want more power and driver aids: Kicks SV Plus.
- Families who need seven seats or 4WD: The X-Trail S 4WD at AED 112,500.
- Buyers who want the full equipment list: X-Trail SL 4WD, but at AED 155,000, it is priced near larger SUVs, so compare before you commit.

Final take
Nissan is a brand to reckon with in the UAE, with a long history in the market. Many generations of Emiratis have owned its Japanese cars and SUVs, and several of its models remain popular.
When it comes to its SUV offerings, each car has a clear job. The Magnite gets you into a new Nissan SUV for under AED 72,000, with a basic safety kit. The Kicks gives you a stronger engine and, from the SV Plus, a proper driver-assistance package. The X-Trail is the one for families that need space and the most technology.
The X-Trail S 4WD with seven seats looks like the best value in the range. The Kicks SV Plus looks like the best value among the smaller cars. Before you buy, ask for a written quote and a specification sheet for the exact variant.
