Audi reveals images of upcoming e-tron electric SUV

ABU DHABI: Audi is working on its first ever complete electric car and things are proceeding as planned. This electric car would be an SUV and the German company has even booked the Royal Danish Playhouse theatre to host the preview show.

The new Audi electric SUV as the e-tron. However, it is to be noted that the company has not held the global premiere yet but did display an example of the car. But again, the example model was wrapped under camouflage.

Even though the company has kept the car hidden, it did release the first set of images showing the interior layout and design. And guess what, everyone who looks at it will feel that it has a similar setting as the customers are accustomed to

There are a few digital displays right in the centre console, resembling what we know as the Audi Virtual Cockpit. There are two OLED displays too in the dashboard, which take the total number of screens inside the cabin to five. There will be a total of 16 speakers in the audio system which is to be made by Bang & Olufsen.

Just like any typical German luxury automaker, the quality and comfort level inside the cabin of the Audi e-tron SUV has been kept to a higher level. The seats are wrapped in premium quality leather and the dashboard is built with a soft-touch plastic material. There is also a lot of well-polished dark aluminium accent all around.

Having said that, there is one thing which stands out and is unique. The e-tron has virtual exterior mirrors in place of the actual ones. These virtual exterior mirrors use a video camera that has a wide field of view angles. Plus, Audi claims that these mirrors will have many drive modes depending on the place you are driving in. As for example, it may have separate driving modes for parking, turning and highway driving.

It is expected that the Audi e-tron SUV will make a global debut by the end of August 2018.
