Audi TT sports car production comes to end in Hungary

ABU DHABI: The series production of the Audi TT sports car ended in Hungary at the Gyor plant. In 1988, the German automaker introduced the Audi TT sports coupe. Since then, 6,62,762 units have been produced globally. 

Audi has now officially ended the model's production with the TTS Coupe. It features the 306hp, 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that takes just 4.5 seconds to accelerate the sportscar to 100 kmph. 

Audi first showcased the TT in concept form at the Tokyo Motor Show that was held in 1995. Since then, the company has introduced TT's three generations, showcasing a convertible body style that was presented at the 1995 Tokyo Motor Show in the concept version. Audi also delighted car enthusiasts with several special editions, facelifts, and even 'final' editions.

Audi officially ended the production of TT in February 2023, leaving this iconic model's future uncertain. The Tourist Trophy seems to be the inspiration behind the nameplate of the TT. Audi has not given a confirmation whether the TT will make a comeback, and if it does, its structure and form remain undisclosed. While the R8 will undergo an electric makeover, the destiny of TT remains uncertain, leaving enthusiasts curious about its potential return in a different and new incarnation.

Recently, Audi announced that it will soon launch the Audi TT Roadster. It will feature an exterior paint in Goodwood Green pearl effect complemented by the S-line exterior package.
