The Audi Q5 is the second most powerful and elegant Cross SUV in the manufacturer's current lineup. This car was launched in the year 2009 and its production line was pushed in year 2008. Luxury line Audi A5 coupe and the stated machine shares their platform with each other while keeping the similar dimensions and wheelbase. The Q5 borrows its design from the elder brother Q7, which holds the prestige of being the most powerful machine in the Audi SUV range. The Q5 offers a lot of the equipment inside the cabin which are in accordance with the A5. The SUV styling still remains intact here and the fluctuation in the dimensions made are acceptable.

Interior & Features

Premium quality of the Audi vehicles is found to be there in this car's cabin. The color combination and placement of objects is linear and it matches with the personality of the car. In this section also, it matches with its sedan sibling; a slight level of changes have been encountered in this vehicle, but a major part has been kept similar. The position of seats and the steering have been tuned and the shifts have been carried out to reach the driver's convenience, also the dashboard appoints a huge heads-up display at the front with MMI Navigation. The seats are well puffed for comfort and they offer good shoulder room, leg room and head room. At the rear, the 540 liters of luggage area is more than sufficient to take it on a weekend trip.

The body work is carried out is an ingenious way to make it look distinct with the A5 and Q7. With almost same dimension count and styling, this mid level SUV has done a good job in enhancing the beauty with a rather taller and upright face. The sharp headlights and six edge trapezoidal grill of the sedan are replaced with the simple and box shaped units of lamps and a four edge assemblage. As per the dimensions, the length of the alleged cross SUV is 4629 mm, width is 1898 mm and the height is 1655 mm. Its wheelbase is 2807 mm that is very close to the A5 sportsback. At the foot, it has 17 inch alloys with 235/65 R17 tyres.

Engine & Fuel Consumption

Engine, Mileage and Variants

This car has got its chance to show off with two engine options in the UAE. The first one on the lineup is the 2.0-liter 4 cylinder in-line turbocharged DOHC gasoline engine which churns out 225 hp of power at 4500 to 6250 rpm. The torque mated to this engine is 350 Nm at 1500 rpm. The second engine on offer is the 3.0-liter V6 supercharged DOHC gasoline engine which develops 272 hp of power at 4780 to 6500 rpm along with the torque output of 400 Nm at 2150 to 4780 rpm. Both the engines are capable enough and they possess healthy performance output. The top speed of these engines lies between 222 kmph to 235 kmph and the acceleration for the same reaches to 100 kmph in the time band of 7.5 and 5.9 seconds.

Braking & Safety

Safety, Braking and Miscellaneous

While shifting from a sedan to an SUV, the driver always faces a kind of lift up due to obvious reason of vehicle's height. With the Q5, the dashboard and front vision have also been tried to be kept alike the sedan and the execution is carried out nicely so as to omit the high sitting issues and adding confidence while driving on the hills and sluggish locations. The Audi Drive Select Package includes adjustable dampers and variable ratio steering as an optional package. These systems allow the car to adjust as per the circumstances and the road conditions so as to minimize the bounces and jerks. As the standard equipment, this car comes with ABS, EBD, traction control, brake assist, ESP and multiple airbags.

The Audi Q5 is a capable SUV and a gently carried out make over of the sedan sibling. It follows a series of healthy equipments with spacious interior and powerful engines. The ride quality should be praised a bit more to extract more juice out of the machine.
