Chery Omoda 5 EV previewed at Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show 2023

ABU DHABI: The Chery Omoda 5 EV was displayed at the GIIAS 2023 automotive exhibition on Thursday, 10 August 2023. The Chinese automaker Chery took the wraps off the new EV alongside the ICE-powered Omoda 5, the Tiggo 7 Pro, and the Tiggo 8 Pro models. Before this, Chery Omoda 5 EV was launched in China, making it the first market to receive the trendy and bold SUV. 

The Omoda 5 has a stylish design, efficient power, and intuitive technology. Design-wise, the EV looks distinct from its internal combustion engine counterpart. In place of the prominent grille of the non-electric model, it features a closed-off body-coloured front panel. Additional modifications include a chrome panel between the headlights, a redesigned lower bumper, subtle adjustments to the rear bumper, and updated alloy wheels.

The EV is propelled by an electric motor that produces up to 221 hp of power. A 61 kWh battery pack has been positioned in the floor pan of the car, offering a substantial range of 450 km on the CLTC cycle. This battery configuration supports both DC and AC charging, with the former providing an 80% charge in only 35 minutes. In terms of performance, the EV takes 7.8 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph.

PT Chery Sales Indonesia has started accepting Omoda 5 EV bookings at IDR 10,000,000. The deliveries will commence in early 2024. 

Chery has not yet revealed anything about the launch of the Omoda 5 EV in the UAE.
