All-New 2026 Nissan LEAF Redefines Everyday Electric with Sleek Aero Design and Smart Comfort

Abu Dhabi : Nissan reveals main features of the third-generation LEAF with major upgrades in design, comfort, and efficiency.
KEY TAKEAWAYS
What is the significance of the panoramic glass roof in the new LEAF?
The panoramic glass roof is designed with electrochromic technology, allowing users to adjust light levels at the push of a button, and contributes to exceptional aerodynamics. How does the roof affect the vehicle's height and headroom?
The roof design reduces vehicle height by 12 mm at critical airflow points without compromising rear headroom.- What they've learnt from 700,000 global LEAF sales has shaped next-gen design.
- It has best-in-class aerodynamic performance with Cd as low as 0.25.
Nissan has pulled the cover off its all-new, third-generation LEAF, which marks a milestone in the electric journey of the brand. Fifteen years after its global debut, the LEAF returns as a smarter, sleeker, and more efficient EV. What fuels this is the customer insights from nearly 700,000 worldwide sales.
The latest LEAF in the UAE, where the demand for EV demand is quickly growing, promises a mix of technology, aerodynamics, and family practicality.
Evolved by Experience
The LEAF, since its first launch in 2010, has clocked a combined global mileage of 28 billion kilometres. That journey gave Nissan the insights into what electric drivers truly want and need.
This third generation draws heavily on what they've learnt in real world from the first two, with the aim of creating what Richard Candler, Vice President of Global Product Strategy, calls “a truly credible alternative to combustion vehicles.”

“Beyond EV intenders and innovators, we wanted the all-new Nissan LEAF to offer a truly credible alternative to combustion vehicles,” Candler said. “We wanted it to balance emotional and rational
appeal so as to ensure it looks sleek and bold, whilst meeting the real-world needs of families with thoughtful design.”
Aero First: A Design Built to Cut Through Air
Exterior design is central to the new LEAF’s purpose. They shape the body for style and to maximise aerodynamic performance. The result is a drag coefficient of 0.26 (Cd) for the U.S. and Japan, and an even more refined 0.25 Cd for Europe.
- Flush door handles: Reduce surface drag.
- Active grille shutter: To manage airflow.
- Flat underbody: Supports smoother air passage.
- Optimised wheels and mirrors: To help boost aerodynamics (EU spec)
These help increase range and also support a quieter and more efficient ride.
e-Dimming Roof: Smart Glass, Smarter Comfort
The new panoramic glass roof plays a crucial role in aero and cabin comfort. The roof, which they design with electrochromic technology, lets users adjust light levels at the push of a button.

As Nobutaka Tase, Programme Design Director, explained: “Every choice of design was optimised for aero and energy efficiency, even the panoramic glass roof contributes to exceptional aerodynamics.”
Thanks to this roof, vehicle height was reduced by 12 mm at critical airflow points, without compromising rear headroom. The infrared-reflective layer also shields passengers from solar heat, which helps make it ideal for the sunny UAE conditions.
More Spacious Inside, Future-Ready Platform
The new LEAF, which is built on Nissan’s CMF-EV platform, offers a flat-floor cabin that feels open and practical. The car, with more space, sleek finishes, and smart tech, is no longer only for early adopters but for everyone.
As Nissan is preparing for its global launch later this month, this third-generation LEAF has set a new standard in accessible, aerodynamic, and family-friendly electric mobility.
