V8 powered Volkswagen Touareg TDI makes its debut

ABU DHABI: With about a week to go for the Geneva Auto Show, Volkswagen has decided to give diesel lovers a taste of their insane V8 Touareg. Jumping right into the performance, this V8 monster will make 421 PS and a mammoth 900 Nm of torque. The oil burner tops out at 250 kmph, and 0-100 kmph is dismissed in 4.9 seconds. Customers can choose from either the Elegance or Atmosphere trim. The latter embodies nature and uses wood inlays (a narrow wing made of “curved beam wood” that extends over the entire width of the dash panel) and other warm natural themed tones, with the former using metal and cooler color tones. Standout interior features include Vienna leather upholstery and Innovision Cockpit for digital display and controls.

When compared to the lower V6 variants, the V8 TDI gets an array of equipment. Some of these are comfort seats, electrically-powered tailgate, stainless steel foot pedals, air suspension, anti-theft alarm system along with the Light and Sight package featuring electrochromic side view/rear view mirrors. The diesel V8 has 19-inch Tirano wheels as standard as opposed to 18-inch ones on other Touareg models. Safety features are also aplenty. You get Traffic Jam and Roadwork Lane Assist, Front Cross-Traffic Assist, roll stabilization system with electro-mechanically controlled anti-roll bars, IQ Light, all-wheel steering system and Night Vision with human/animal detection. In the future, Volkswagen will also offer its LED matrix headlights.

The complete details of the Touareg V8 TDI will be revealed next week at the Geneva Motor Show 2019. As of now, it remains a concept that's very close to being production ready. The engine will also be compliant with Euro 6d-TEMP standards and should be good to hit the roads in many countries.
