Toyota offers glimpse of two upcoming SUVs at Land Cruiser Prado launch event

ABU DHABI: Toyota is known for giving a glimpse of future vehicles during product launches. Back in June the Japanese marque hosted Vellfire minivans and the new Alphard world premiere and showcased a shadowy silhouette of Century SUV. Now during the Land Cruiser Prado launch event, it teased two more SUVs. The silhouettes of two upcoming SUVs were showcased through a slide in the background at the end of the event.

Based on the shadowy teaser image, it is being estimated that one of the models is the Compact Cruiser EV. It resembles the Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 series. It will likely share some powertrain and suspension components with future electric Toyotas, but the company has not revealed anything about the Compact Cruiser EV’s mechanical components. In late 2021 this rugged electric SUV was showcased as a concept, and the next year it won numerous awards.

Going by the silhouette, Toyota might introduce Compact Cruiser EV with a tailgate-mounted spare wheel and boxy design. It may also feature a heavy front fascia and a thick C-pillar. The FJ Cruiser may also transition to an all-electric drivetrain. There is no concrete information about the other one, but it resembles the BZ SUV concept teased in 2021. 

At the global unveiling of the new Vellfire, Toyota also teased the Century SUV. The teaser revealed the real pillar and roof of the all-new model. The vehicle is expected to launch later this year and will redefine comfort and luxury in the SUV segment. 

The latest generation of Toyota Vellfire arrived in the UAE as a family-friendly and luxurious MPV. It joins the lineup of Land Cruiser, RAV 4, Prado, and Hilux. Toyota has also introduced the Urban Cruiser Hyryder to expand its presence in the UAE market.
