MG 8 PHEV with Combined Range of up to 1250 km Launched in the Middle East

The MG 8 PHEV hybrid sedan has made its debut in the UAE, building on the brand’s focus on new technology in the Middle East. After setting a Guinness World Record for the longest distance covered by a plug-in hybrid, the latest model brings impressive range, clever hybrid engineering, and stylish looks.

Built for Middle Eastern Conditions

Designed for the local environment, the MG 8 PHEV was tested in the UAE’s tough summer heat. This sedan is built to handle extreme temperatures and is certified under GSO and SASO rules (so it meets the region’s safety and quality needs).

MG 8 Engine and Driving Range

The MG 8 Engine uses advanced hybrid technology with a 1.5-liter petrol engine matched with MG’s DMH Super Hybrid system. Together, they set up a balance of quick acceleration, strong performance, and very good fuel economy. You get five smart driving modes that adjust power to the current road conditions.

This setup produces 201 hp and 330 Nm of torque, connected to an e-CVT gearbox. The MG 8 can travel up to 1,650 km on a blended tank and battery, and up to 125 km on electricity alone. Earlier this year, the 8 set a record by travelling 2,208 km on a single tank, averaging around 40 km per litre.

A special 5-in-1 PICU Controller helps everything work together for better energy savings and sharp, responsive driving. MG also reports a 10 per cent drop in noise, vibration, and harshness compared to other models, making each journey quieter and smoother.

MG 8 Price in the UAE

The MG 8 PHEV comes in two versions: the entry-level 1.5L STD and the higher-spec 1.5L COM. The 1.5L STD has 17-inch alloy wheels, split digital displays, auto climate control, rear vents, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and a six-way power-adjustable driver seat. This starts around AED 91,400.

The 1.5L COM version upgrades to 18-inch alloys, electric folding mirrors, a 360-degree camera, and both front seats with power adjustments (plus ventilation for the driver). This top version comes in at about AED 100,600.

MG 8 Rivals
