DONGFENG 007

Cabin

The interiors are slightly different, and you know immediately once you step inside. The 007 trades its film-referencing exterior for a calmer, tech-forward cabin that puts space and screens ahead of styling flourishes.

For a range-extended sedan that actually competes against established hybrids, the fit and finish here punches above what the segment usually offers at this price. One area where most Chinese brands are alike is in offering a lot of features in the segment, not necessarily costing more.

A white-and-black colour scheme keeps the cabin feeling open instead of the cold, sterile look some electric vehicles fall into.

Then you see the two-tone steering wheel, finished in white leather with dark grey accents. It uses a squared shape with media and climate controls built into the rim itself, keeping a driver's hands close to the wheel during a drive.

Evidently, the soft-touch plastics cover the dashboard and upper door panels instead of hard polymers. The wood-grain trim on the dashboard and climate vents adds warmth without tipping into ornamentation.

As far as tech goes, there is an 8.8-inch driver display that faces the driver through the wheel, while a 15.6-inch touchscreen dominates the centre console with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto built in alongside Dongfeng's own navigation and vehicle controls.

Front Seat and Rear Seat

• A Driver's seat gets a 6-way power adjustment, and the passenger seat has 4-way
• Rear seats fit two adults comfortably, with the middle position limited by the centre armrest
• Each rear seat gets its own touch-controlled reading light, USB-C and USB ports, and a dedicated air-conditioning vent
• A full-length panoramic sunroof extends over both rows, with 64-colour ambient lighting synced to the sound system

Climate Control

The air-conditioning system holds the cabin temperature within 1°C accuracy even under heavy sun load. This is clearly aimed squarely at UAE summer conditions.

Storage

• A dual phone storage space at the centre of the display, one with wireless charging and active cooling
• The split centre console armrest with room for larger personal items
• Push-button cup holders are positioned near the armrests, though they are close enough to cause some ergonomic friction during hard cornering.

Charging

DC fast charging takes around 26 minutes from 30 to 80 percent. This is backed by standard home charging for anyone without regular access to a public charger.

Boot Space

Dongfeng says about 672 litres of boot capacity for the 007. And this certainly is a generous figure for a range-extended sedan built around a battery pack and electric motor.

A motorized opening system with hydraulic damping reduces the risk of trapped fingers. The dual-level storage includes space for emergency tools and a spare tyre alongside tie-down points for securing loose cargo.

You will find a lot of safety features, as Dongfeng builds the 007's safety package around the key features that sedan buyers want. This includes 6 airbags, covering the front seats, both rows via curtain airbags, and dedicated side-impact protection.

• Electronic stability control paired with anti-lock brakes
• Multi-layer collision detection and response systems
• Around-view camera system, providing wider coverage than a conventional rear camera
• Rear reversing radar and rear collision warning
• Electronic parking brake fitted as standard

Front

A minimalist grille design centres on the Dongfeng logo, which is finished in piano black with polished chrome detailing that avoids looking cluttered. The slim LED daytime running lights are arranged in a unique geometric pattern above additional LED units. All of this gives the 007 a distinct nighttime signature.

Side Profile

Take a look from the side, and you get the impression that the sedan actually looks quite long. And it is, as the 007 stretches to 4,880 mm long, 1,895 mm wide, and 1,460 mm tall. It has a low-slung stance built around aerodynamic efficiency instead of outright road presence.

From the side, you notice the door handles are integrated flush with the bodywork to cut drag. Overall, the side profile looks quite appealing and gives the 007 a modern sedan design.

Alloy Wheels

The 18-inch star-cut alloy wheels wrapped in 235/50 tyres fill the arches without looking oversized. The star-cut design comes with covers designed for aerodynamic efficiency as much as looks, a detail more common on pure EVs than range-extended sedans.

Rear

Move to the back, and there are clean and stylish design cues. One of the highlights is the single-piece LED taillight bar that spans the full width of the car.

Now you know where this design is inspired; yes, the brand describes it as Porsche-inspired, and it is one of the more distinctive elements of the whole design. The 007 emblem is mounted low on the rear bumper, which is a deliberate nod to the film franchise the name borrows from.

No guess is required here, and frankly, it is not that bad. It looks quite contemporary and also very different from most sedans.

Colours

• Superior White
• Metallic Black
• Metallic Grey
• Gold
• Xi You Purple

There is more choice in terms of colour selection than initially expected in the UAE in 2026, with Dongfeng offering five exterior colours.

City Performance

Dongfeng built the 007's range-extended system for exactly this kind of driving. And a typical Dubai Marina to Business Bay commute is where that decision pays off most.

• Away from a Dubai Marina signal, the petrol generator is likely to stay silent as long as the battery holds enough charge. And so most of a weekday commute can be handled without the engine doing anything at all.
• A tight Business Bay car park shows what rear-wheel drive and a low-mounted battery floor do for agility, something most front-driven sedans this size can't easily match.
• Backing into a narrow parking spot, the camera system gives a wide view around the car, making it easier to judge the corners.
• A short top-up at a public DC charger, around 26 minutes for 30 to 80 percent, can add a useful electric range before the generator needs to contribute.
• Through a slower crawl, the 007 stays quiet enough that a passenger unfamiliar with the car might not immediately realise that there is a petrol engine on board somewhere.

Highway Performance

A 1,200 km combined range changes how a UAE buyer should think about the 007 on longer drives. The case holds up whether that's a Dubai to Abu Dhabi commute or a weekend run north toward Ras Al Khaimah.

• The instant torque of the electric motor makes an E11 on-ramp feel effortless. It arrives the moment the accelerator moves, not after waiting for a turbo to spool.
• At a steady cruise, the single-speed transmission keeps power delivery smooth, skipping the gear hunting multi-ratio automatic sometimes shows at a fixed cruise.
• The petrol generator's real job shows up on longer runs, extending the effective range well past what the battery alone could cover and reducing the need to plan around a charging stop.
• A slower vehicle gets passed on the highway with 310 Nm landing instantly, a move that feels more confident than the 171 km/h top speed alone would suggest.
• You will notice the excellent cabin refinement, especially at speed, which matters for a sedan positioned against the Camry Hybrid and Sonata. The 007's silence at highway pace holds up well enough that a two-hour drive doesn't wear on passengers the way a noisier cabin would.

Ride and Handling

• Crossing a rough patch of road, the low centre of gravity from the underfloor battery pack helps keep the body settled over sharper inputs.
• Taking a roundabout, the rear-wheel-drive setup gives the 007 a more balanced feel through direction changes than a front-driven sedan of similar size.
• If you brake it hard, the 007's stopping power benefits from the weight distribution shaped by the battery mounted low in the chassis.
• Moving through a narrow older part of the city, the 007's size and rear-wheel-drive layout make tight U-turns easier to manage than you might expect from a sedan of this size.

Right now, the 007 is available as a single model in REV. That means it gets the full set of features we have discussed in the review, including a range-extended powertrain. Then there is a 15.6-inch touchscreen and a panoramic sunroof inside the cabin.

As far as safety goes, you get a lot: a 6-airbag safety package and the driver-assistance features described throughout this review. The UAE market currently lists only the single REV variant.

The 007 takes a distinctly different approach to electrification. By using a petrol engine purely as a generator instead of driving the wheels, it helps remove the range anxiety that still makes a lot of buyers think twice about choosing a full EV.

The cabin is well-equipped, with most of the tech and features that you expect from a sedan at this price point. The highlight is a 15.6-inch touchscreen, individually equipped rear seats, and a 672-litre boot that backs up the tech story with real everyday usability, not just numbers on a spec table.

So, looking at the traditional rivals in this segment, the Toyota Camry Hybrid, Hyundai Sonata, and Kia K5, the 007 competes on silence, low running costs, and rear-wheel-drive dynamics that a front-driven hybrid sedan simply can't match.

The only thing is, you don't have options but to choose a single-variant range, leaving little flexibility for a buyer trying to plan a purchase around this car today.

But this might make sense for someone drawn to electric driving but unwilling to gamble on charging infrastructure; the 007 makes a case few rivals in this price bracket can match.
