2019 Honda Civic Type R comes with new features

ABU DHABI: Honda has revealed the Civic hatchback and Type R trim. Earlier, the manufacturer has introduced the Civic sedan and coupe format. The cars are equipped with some tweaks in terms of styling along with a few upgrades.

An updated Display Audio System has been added to both the Civic trims, hatch and Type R. This system has physical buttons along with a volume knob. The new infotainment unit has the voice control function along with better Bluetooth connectivity than the previous.

The steering wheel gets buttons, whose functions are now upgraded to make the operations simple. Also, the cup holders are now bigger. An indicator light has been attached to the electronic parking brake. The manufacturer has not changed the styling of the Type R and Civic hatchback. Unlike the sedan and coupe, every styling element is identical in both the vehicles.

The Civic Type R continues to have a 2.0-litre turbocharged mill, which is capable of thrusting out a maximum power of 306 PS along with a peak torque of 400 Nm. A six-speed manual gearbox is mated to the engine that sends down the power to the front wheels.

The Type R gets a new Sonic Gray Pearl color for the model year of 2019 in the US, while the Philippines-spec Civic Type R gets Polished Metal splash. However, there is no news for the UAE spec models exterior.

The 2019 Civic hatchback features Honda Sensing system as standard and it contains Forward Collision Warning, Collision Mitigation Braking, Road Departure Mitigation and Lane Keep Assist.

The updated Civic Type R and Civic Hatchback will go on sale around the first week of November in the United States of America. Hence, we can expect that the Civic models to make their way into the UAE soon.
