Polestar 3

The Polestar 3 is being offered with four elegant-looking interior themes - bio-attributed Microtech in charcoal with aluminium deco, animal welfare certified wool in charcoal with aluminium deco, animal welfare traced Nappa leather in Jupiter with black ash deco, and animal welfare traced Nappa leather in zinc with black ash deco. 

With 8-way electrically-adjustable sports comfort seats with power-operated multi-directional lumbar support at the front, the Polestar 3 has a 9-inch TFT instrument console and a large portrait-styled 14.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system for enhancing the driving experience. The large window panels and the panoramic glass roof make the already spacious cabin feel even airier.

The Polestar 3 is rich in equipment, with this electric crossover having a 25-speaker Bowers and Wilkins audio system, electrically-adjustable and heated multi-functional steering wheel, air purifier, three-zone automatic climate control with rear AC vents, wireless charger, ventilation and massage function for the front seats and ambient lighting. 

The Polestar 3 takes heavy inspiration from the Volvo Recharge concept, with many of its design elements making their way into this production version. While it does not have the butch appeal of a traditional appeal, the crossover-like styling does give it an elegant look.

At the front, the sloping bonnet of the Polestar 3 flows down towards a blank fascia, which has integrated passages for optimal airflow over it and has a closed trapezoidal grille in the middle. The headlamps on the sides are horizontally-laid T-shaped all-LED headlamps with Thor’s hammer-inspired LED DRLs on the sides. There is an option of 1.3 Megapixel HD LED headlights with high-pressure cleaning for an additional price.

The side profile of the Polestar 3 has a slightly boxy feel with large side window panels, with the window waistline having a sharp rake angle towards the rear. The Polestar 3 has 21-inch alloy wheels as standard, though one can opt for larger 22-inch alloy wheels. At the back, this electric luxury crossover has an almost upright windscreen with a horizontally stretched tail lamp cluster with L-shaped housings on the sides and an LED-connected light bar between them. 

With double-wishbone front suspension and integral link rear suspension, the Polestar 3 has dual-volume active air suspension that lowers automatically at higher speeds for better stability and enhanced aerodynamics. With two primary drive modes, Performance and Range, the Polestar 3 also has three different steering modes – Standard, Firm, and Light – for precise steering feedback. However, this electrically-tuned steering wheel feels too artificially articulated at times. 

The Polestar 3 comes standard with a dual-motor, all-wheel drive configuration, which claims 483 bhp, 840 Nm and 5 seconds for the 0-100 kmph run in Long Range Dual Motor variant and 510 bhp, 910 Nm and 4.7 seconds for the 0-100 kmph run in Long Range Dual Motor with performance pack variant. With a top speed of 210 kmph, the Polestar 3 also comes standard with a 111kWh battery, which delivers a 628 km range in the Long Range Dual Motor variant and a 560 km range in the Long Range Dual Motor variant with a performance pack variant. 

Besides having nine airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, cornering traction control and parking sensors and cameras all around, the Polestar 3 also has a range of ADAS features which include understeer control logic, trailer stability assist, regenerative stability control, adaptive cruise control, pilot assist, lane change assist, collision mitigation with other vehicles, cyclists, and pedestrians, night-time collision warning, lane keeping aid, lane departure warning, run-off road mitigation, oncoming lane mitigation, driver alert control, rear collision warning and mitigation, driver alert control, rear collision warning and mitigation, cross traffic alert with brake support and blind spot information with steer assist.

The Polestar 3 might not have the tall and upright stance of similarly-priced traditional SUVs, but it does come across as a thoughtfully designed crossover with an innovatively designed and equipped interior and an impressive all-wheel drive powertrain, ticking all the right boxes of a modern-day electric vehicle.
