Polestar 2

The modern-looking cabin of the Polestar 2 has charcoal or zinc embossed textile upholstery with 3D-etched deco inlays as its standard upholstery. However, one can opt for more premium-looking vegan weavetech upholstery in charcoal or slate with black ash deco inlays included in the Plus pack.

The multi-functional, four-way adjustable steering wheel of the Polestar 2 has a modern-looking 12.3-inch full-TFT instrument console, while the sloping centre console has an 11.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system taking centre stage. The dashboard has a wraparound hollow design with C-shaped corners engulfing the sleek AC vents. 

The standard equipment list of the Polestar 2 includes powered front seats with memory function for the driver’s seat, mid-level ambient lighting, dual-zone automatic climate control with rear AC vents, CleanZone air purifier, wireless charger, four USB charging slots and an 8-speaker audio system. The Plus pack adds or replaces some features of the car, and includes a panoramic roof with the Polestar logo, a 13-speaker Harman-Kardon audio system, a heated steering wheel, heated and ventilated front seats and high-level ambient lighting.

The Polestar 2 has a trunk space of 405 litres, which is expandable to 1095 litres, making it hugely practical. For added practicality, it also has a 41-litre frunk as standard.

The Polestar 2 takes much of its design inspiration from the Volvo S60 and S90 sedans, and that is evident in some of its highlights like the closed front grille with tapered lower edges, the all-LED headlamps with Thor’s hammer-shaped LED DRLs and C-shaped wraparound tail lamps. With the Pilot pack, one can also equip the Polestar 2 with funky-looking Pixel LED headlamps. The front bumper has triangular housings on the corners with LED fog lamps. 

The Polestar 2 has muscular haunches above the fenders and gets 19-inch alloy wheels as standard, though one can opt for 20-inch alloy wheel designs too. This liftback also gets frameless power-adjustable and foldable rearview mirrors, with its C-shaped LED tail lamps having a connected LED light bar at the back. These tail lamps have a unique lighting pattern with 288 individually controlled LEDs. 

Based on Volvo’s CMA platform, the Polestar 2 has Macpherson struts at the front and multi-link at the rear, with both of them getting twin-tube, single-flow valve shock absorbers. There are three drive modes on offer too – Passive, Comfort and Drive, with the Polestar 2 delivering a soft, well-cushioned drive. However, the steering responses at higher speeds can be more precise in feel. 

Both the variants of the Polestar 2 have a rear-mounted single motor configuration as standard, which generates 272 bhp and 490 Nm in the Standard Range variant and 299 bhp and 490 Nm in the Long Range variant. With a 205 kmph top speed, the Polestar 2 claims 6.4 seconds for the 0-100 kmph sprint in the Standard Range and 6.2 seconds for the same in the Long Range variant. 

There are two battery pack options offered in the Polestar 2. The Standard Range has a 69kWh battery claiming a 546km range, while the 82kWh battery in the Long Range delivers a 655 km range. 

The Polestar 2 has twelve sensors and four cameras all around, which combine to perform various ADAS functions of the car, such as Understeer Control Logic, Driver Steering Recommendation, Trailer Stability Assist, Regenerative Stability Control, Collision Avoidance with other vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians, Night-time collision warning, Lane Keeping Aid, Lane Departure Warning, Run-off Road Mitigation, Oncoming Lane Mitigation, Driver Alert Control, Rear Collision Warning and Mitigation, Cross Traffic Alert with brake support and Blind Spot Information with steer assist.

With Pilot Pack, one can also add more features like Adaptive Cruise Control, Pilot Assist and Speed Limiter. Other safety features offered as standard in the Polestar 2 are eight airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, traction control, tyre pressure monitoring system and hill start assist. 

While the Polestar 2 is the brand’s oldest model in its lineup, it is very much modern in its overall appearance inside-out, while also having tech-laden features and powertrain options which make it one of the finest all-electric luxury sedans at its price.
