Toyota Yaris Sedan - Top alternatives
The Toyota Yaris is one of the best and affordable sedans available in the Middle Eastern market and has been in the good books of any automobile enthusiasts. Even for the manufacturer itself, the Yaris nameplate has been tremendously successful, thanks to the Yaris hatchback too.
However, despite the bringing of this new model sedan version, the company did manage to keep the 1.3-litre engine trim restricted to the hatch body only. The car is available in just one trim level - 1.5-litre CVT. The engine is capable of producing a maximum power of 105 hp at 6,000 RPM, along with a peak torque of 140 Nm, which comes at 4,200 RPM. Toyota Yaris Sedan price starts at AED 59,900
The Toyota Yaris sedan has a very dynamic approach all across. The front end is stylish and very sharp. The sleek headlamps, slim grille, and massive lower bumper add a lot of character to the vehicle. Inside the Toyota Yaris sedan, a good number of features are given as standard in the Yaris sedan, which includes central door locking, fabric upholstered seats, urethane steering wheel, etc. Besides just that, the infotainment system comprises of audio routing via Bluetooth, AUX or USB and is connected to a 4-speaker set.
Are there any alternatives for the Toyota Yaris sedan in the UAE?
Since the compact sedan space is so very competitive, the Toyota Yaris sedan does not enjoy a complete monopoly. To be precise, there are other similar cars too that might make for a good alternative to Toyota.
|Toyota Yaris Sedan||Kia Rio||Honda City||Hyundai Accent|
|AED 59,900||AED 49,900||AED 53,900||AED 50,800|
The Kia Rio is one of the newest and fiercest competitors for the Toyota Yaris. It might not be a very stylishly built sedan but looks extremely elegant. Plus, it is also around AED 10,000 more affordable over the Yaris and thus is highly preferable.
The Rio is available in two engine options - 1.4-litre and 1.6-litre. The smaller engine can churn out 100 hp of peak power and 133 Nm of highest torque. On the other engine, the top engine manages 123 hp of power and 151 Nm of torque. Hence, it can be seen that it is more powerful than the Yaris despite being more affordable.
The Honda City is one of the most popular compact sedans in almost all the countries it is sold in, and the Middle East is no different. It is more affordable than the Toyota car, though the top-end trim is expensive. However, the list of features in the Honda is way better too.
Under the hood, the Honda City is available in just one engine option, the 1.5-litre in-line 4-cylinder unit. This engine can produce up to 118 hp of maximum power and 146 Nm of highest torque. The CVT transmission is super smooth too.
The Hyundai Accent is one of the most stylish designed sedans in the UAE, especially after the latest generation update. The large front grille and the sleek combination LED taillights can be barely missed.
The Hyundai Accent is available in two engine options. The small one is a 1.4-litre unit that makes 100 hp power and 136 Nm torque. The bigger 1.6-litre unit mill produces 123 hp of power and 156 Nm of torque. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic, depending on the variant you choose.
Which one is better?
Aesthetically, the decision depends on the buyers completely. All of the four sedans, including the Toyota Yaris, have distinct designs to show. However, when it comes to the features, the Yaris is not the most inflated on. Since it is the most expensive model of the four, it is expected to be the most feature-rich too.
But again, Toyota does not present a strong case in this scenario, thereby allowing the competitors to step in strong. Yet, when you look at the Yaris individually, without comparing it with any other, it does manage to justify the price tag pretty well.
