How many variants are there in Toyota C-HR HEV?

The Toyota C-HR HEV is available in two variants: the VX Hybrid and the GX Hybrid. The VX Hybrid is the more premium option, while the GX Hybrid offers a slightly lower price point without sacrificing essential features.

Which is the most value-for-money variant?

The GX Hybrid variant is the better value for money. Priced at AED 95,900, it offers the same fuel efficiency and hybrid technology as the VX but at a more affordable price.

What features does the Toyota C-HR HEV get?

The Toyota C-HR HEV is packed with features that enhance safety, comfort, and convenience. Both variants come with keyless entry, push-start functionality, and LED headlamps. For tech lovers, there’s Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth connectivity, and a 7-inch infotainment display.

Adaptive LED headlamps, two-tone body color, and a leather steering wheel are exclusive to the VX Hybrid, adding a touch of luxury to the experience.

How spacious is it?

The Toyota C-HR HEV is designed as a subcompact crossover, offering adequate space for city driving. The dimensions are 4,390 mm in length, 1,795 mm in width, and 1,565 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,640 mm.

Front passengers enjoy decent legroom and comfort, but rear-seat passengers may find the space slightly tight, especially for taller individuals. The cargo space is moderate, making it more suitable for small families or individuals.

What engine and transmission options are available?

The Toyota C-HR HEV is equipped with a 1.8-liter, four-cylinder engine paired with an e-CVT automatic transmission. This setup produces 121 horsepower and 163 Nm of torque. The car reaches 0–100 km/h in 11 seconds and has a top speed of 170 km/h. Additionally, international markets offer a 2.0-liter self-charging hybrid and a plug-in hybrid variant with multiple driving modes, but these are not currently available in the UAE.

What’s the mileage of Toyota C-HR HEV?

The Toyota C-HR HEV boasts an impressive fuel efficiency of 23.9 km/l. This makes it one of the most economical hybrid SUVs in its segment, providing excellent mileage for both city and highway driving.

How many color options are there?

The Toyota C-HR HEV has six stylish color options, including White Pearl Crystal Shine, Attitude Black Mica, and Metal Stream Metallic. For those who want a bolder look, the two-tone options like Blue Metallic with Sporty Black Roof or Red Mica with Sporty Black Roof add a sporty flair.

Should you buy the Toyota C-HR HEV?

If you’re seeking a fuel-efficient hybrid SUV with sleek styling and reliable performance, the Toyota C-HR HEV is a great option. Its compact size makes it ideal for city driving, while the hybrid technology ensures excellent mileage. However, if rear-seat space and cargo capacity are high on your list, you might want to consider other options.

What are my alternatives?

Some alternatives to the Toyota C-HR HEV in the UAE include the Honda HR-V DX, Toyota Rush 1.5L GX, KIA Sportage 2.0L AT, and Toyota RAV 4 2.5L EX. For those seeking hybrid options, the Camry Hybrid and Innova Hybrid offer similar eco-friendly technologies with varying levels of comfort and space.

Other things to consider

Before making a decision, take a test drive to see how the Toyota C-HR HEV fits your driving style. Consider the warranty and after-sales service, as Toyota offers reliable support in the UAE.

Lastly, keep in mind that hybrids typically have lower maintenance costs and better fuel economy than traditional gasoline vehicles, making them a smart long-term investment.

Toyota C-HR HEV Expert Review

The Toyota C-HR is a dramatic-looking midsize crossover, which has been introduced for those who want form over function. It is one of the boldest attempts from Toyota in making a modern crossover, which has also become popular among modern-generation buyers. The Toyota C-HR is being offered in the UAE in two variants – GX and VX, both of which come standard with a single powertrain.

Read More Read Less

Interior

The cabin of the Toyota C-HR also looks unique and fresh, but it isn’t as hugely dramatic in its layout as the exterior design. There is a sense of minimalism in the cabin, despite it having all the modern amenities one expects from a vehicle of its price.

The Toyota C-HR has a simple-looking multi-functional steering wheel, behind which there is a 4.2-inch TFT screen in the instrument console. The asymmetric centre console has a driver-centric free-standing touchscreen infotainment system, below which the centre console has a wraparound design with climate control buttons housed in a rounded trapezoidal housing.

While the space at the back of the Toyota C-HR is at a premium, the crossover comes with a host of features to make the occupants feel good. The list of features includes leather upholstery, wireless charger, powered front seats, electric tailgate, heated front seats, and interior ambient lighting.

Exterior

Among all the conventional designs Toyota has offered in other SUVs in its lineup, the C-HR holds the distinction of being a radical-looking SUV. While the design is not an all-new thing, the C-HR still manages to turn heads and is an absolute attention-grabber.

At the front, the Toyota C-HR has a sleek-looking appearance, with a small T-shaped grille running in the middle between the sweptback headlamps. The headlamps of the C-HR are huge, and cover most of the front profile of the crossover, thus adding to the bold look of the C-HR. These headlamps have LED projectors and sleek daytime running LEDs over them. The huge front bumper, with vertical housings for the LED fog lamps, gives a muscular and aggressive look to the front stance of the C-HR.

The side profile of the Toyota C-HR has that coupe-like essence, which Germans have aced with the offerings like BMW X6, Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe, and Porsche Cayenne Coupe. However, the C-HR has more radicality in its appearance, with a sharply declining roofline towards the rear. Adding more sportiness to the side profile of the C-HR is the two-door appearance, as the rear door handles are recessed in the C-pillars. The flared wheel arches and sharply flowing curves through the door handles add further drama to the look of the C-HR.

At the back also, the Toyota C-HR has a radical appearance, with its boomerang-shaped tail lamps with LED inserts and sharply-raked rear windscreen. Between the boomerang-shaped tail lamps, the C-HR gets a hump, which gives it the impression of the rear spoiler.

Ride & Handling

The Toyota C-HR doesn’t have that sense of outright aggressiveness in its driving dynamics, like its styling. However, it feels easy and comfortable to drive, with a slight firmness in its ride quality. Riding on 17-inch alloy wheels, the Toyota C-HR measures 4390mm long, 1795mm wide, and 1565mm tall, while having a wheelbase of 2650mm.

Engine & Fuel Consumption

Besides having a modern design, the Toyota C-HR also has a new-age full-hybrid powertrain, which is a combination of a naturally-aspirated engine and a front-mounted electric motor. Here, a 1.8-litre four-cylinder engine, which produces 96.55 PS of power and 142 Nm of torque, is paired with an electric motor, which puts around 71 PS of power and 162 Nm of torque. In the combined mode, the powertrain produces a maximum power output of 121 PS, while claiming a maximum fuel efficiency of 23.9 kmpl. The powertrain is mated to an e-CVT unit.

Braking & Safety

The decently long list of safety equipment in the Toyota C-HR consists of front, side and curtain airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic parking brake, vehicle stability control, tyre pressure monitoring system, hill start assist, cruise control, reverse parking sensors and rear camera.

Verdict

Besides its hugely dramatic exterior and interior, the Toyota C-HR feels like a complete package with its perfectly balanced driving experience from its full-hybrid powertrain, comfortable handling and a good number of features.
