Toyota unveils Supra Final Edition with 435-hp engine

ABU DHABI: Toyota is bidding goodbye to the fifth-generation A90 Supra with the track-focused "Final Edition.” This special variant features various upgrades and increased power, offering a notable performance boost.

The Supra was introduced for the first time in 1978 and had four generations before the production ended due to emissions targets. Toyota’s chairman, Akio Toyoda is credited with reviving the iconic sports car in 2019 with the debut of the A90 Supra. The fifth-generation model, developed in collaboration with BMW, shares components with the Z4 and serves as Toyota’s flagship sports car.

The design of the Final Edition is track-inspired with canards, a carbon-fibre rear spoiler, and a cooling vent on the bonnet. Inside, it comes with Recaro carbon-fibre bucket seats with carbon-fibre, Alcantara, and red accents trim. These updates make it stand out from the standard Supra.

Only 300 units of the A90 Supra Final Edition will be produced based on the 3.0-litre model but delivers around 435 hp, surpassing the Porsche 911 Carrera. Performance improvements include a new exhaust catalyst, airflow system revisions, additional cooling, and ECU tweaks. 

To prevent oil starvation, the vehicle features a baffle plate. It also boasts Akrapovič exhaust, adjustable KW dampers, and upgraded brake pads. Toyota’s Final Edition rides on wider Michelin PS 2 tyres, elevating its performance on the track.

Toyota has optimized the differential and made subtle styling tweaks on the standard 3.0-litre Supra for its final production phase. While it is anticipated that the Final Edition will be the last road variant, Toyota will keep on refining the Supra through its motorsports efforts.
