Toyota Land Cruiser Heritage Edition unveiled

ABU DHABI: How old do you think the Toyota Land Cruiser would be? Well, to your surprise, the SUV is over 60 years old. Amused? We are too! Times flies, doesn’t it? While withstanding the test of time is not a piece of cake, the Toyota Land Cruiser has conquered all the terrains for 60 years without breaking a sweat. Land Cruiser Heritage Edition, a special version of the SUV has been unveiled by the Japanese manufacturer in commemoration of the achievement.

The front grille, headlight housings, and the fog lights surroundings have all been dipped in dark chrome. Moreover, the Heritage Edition rides on 18-inch bronze wheels by BBS. As a matter of fact, the Toyota Land Cruiser Heritage Edition is based on the current-generation LC200. In the bid to increase the ground clearance to enable this special edition to conquer the off-road terrains, the manufacturer has done away with the running board and lower body side moulding.

Just beside the rear windows is a Toyota Land Cruiser badge. What is special about this badge? Well, this is the same style of badge that was used on the 40Series Land Cruiser in the past. Nostalgia army on its way! To the surprise, this special edition of the Land Cruiser does not come with the third row of seats. The seats have been done in black leather with bronze contrast stitching. Other additions on the SUV include all-weather matting and cargo liners.

On the mechanical front, the Toyota Land Cruiser Heritage Edition is identical to the US-spec SUV. A 5.7-litre V8 motor which can pump out 381 PS is used to power the off-road maniac. The SUV also comes equipped with a full-time all-wheel-drive. Power delivery to the four wheels has been taken care of by an 8-speed automatic transmission unit.

The 2019 Chicago Motor Show will see the Toyota Land Cruiser Heritage Edition stepping on the podium. If you are interested in getting one for yourself, you better hurry once the SUV is officially launched as only 1,200 units will be produced.
