Renault brings 2019 Megane RS to UAE

ABU DHABI: Renault has launched the Megane RS at the Dubai Autodrome Circuit. The Megane RS is counted among the best performance hatchbacks and since its launch in 2004, the vehicle has been awarded ‘Best Hot hatch’ multiple times.

The Renault Megane RS gest the brand’s new design language, which is similar to the Talisman and Koleos. Though the ‘RS’ and its ‘GT’ sibling, both have a hatchback body style, enough styling elements are there to differentiate them from each other. On the front fascia, the RS is equipped with LED Daytime Running Lights along with the Renault Sport logo, while the large wheels and bulging arches add to its sportiness in the sides. Coming to the rear profile, the exhaust has been mounted at the centre.

The outgoing model of the Renault Megane RS is equipped with a 2.0-litre engine. However, the manufacturer has replaced the engine with a 1.8-litre turbocharged mill in the new model. Surprisingly, the smaller and lighter is capable of producing more power and torque than the outgoing engine. The 1.8-litre engine pushes out a maximum power of 275 horses along with a peak torque of 390 Nm.

A 6-speed automatic gearbox does all the transmission duties and sends down the power to the front wheels. The hot hatch is capable of making 0 to 100 kmph in just 5.8 seconds. Getting inside the car, the Renault Megane RS comes with Alcantara sports seats, which are comfortable enough for long drives.

The 2019 Renault Megane RS comes with a starting price tag of AED 137,500; which is affordable enough for those who are looking for a performance hatch. The car will give a tough competition to the Volkswagen Golf and Ford Focus in the market.
