Do UAE Car Prices Include 5% VAT?

Yes. All official dealer prices listed at UAE showrooms and on manufacturer websites include the mandatory 5% VAT. When you see a price like AED 76,900 for a Toyota Corolla at Al-Futtaim, that figure already includes VAT. Besides this price, you are unlikely to get any other taxes during your purchase. 

Registration and RTA Costs

Registering a new car in the UAE involves costs beyond the purchase price. These vary slightly between emirates, but the following gives a reliable baseline: 

• Dubai (RTA): Registration fee based on engine size: AED 290 for up to 1,000 cc, scaling to AED 1,500 to AED 2,000 for larger engines above 4,000 cc. File opening fee: AED 35. Total typical first-year registration in Dubai: AED 600 to AED 2,000 depending on the vehicle.
• Abu Dhabi: The first registration fee varies by vehicle type and engine displacement. Broadly comparable to Dubai. Additional vehicle inspection (Tasjeel) fees apply.

Official Dealer is Critical

When you buy from an official dealer like Al-Futtaim (Toyota, BYD), Arabian Automobiles (Nissan), AGMC (Hyundai, BMW), Al Habtoor Motors (Honda, GWM), or AW Rostamani (Nissan, Zeekr), your manufacturer warranty is backed and serviced locally. But if you go for gray market imports, parallel importers typically do not carry local warranty coverage. For an AED 200,000 purchase, the difference between a 3-year local warranty and no warranty is not a small thing.
