Ford Territory Dark Edition Launched – A Bold Step in Family SUV Design

Ford South Africa has launched a new Dark Edition of the popular Territory family SUV. This special edition seeks to make a statement with its fashionable appearance and clever design, building on the popularity of the first family-friendly model that was introduced last year. Although the new Dark edition is based on the expensive Titanium model, it features a more elegant and striking look. 

With its premium features and distinctive look, the Dark Edition is expected to deliver even more value, making it a formidable competitor in South Africa's expanding SUV market.

Ford Territory Dark Edition Engine and Specifications

The Territory Dark Edition retains the same 1.8-litre turbocharged EcoBoost petrol engine. It offers 185 hp of power and 318 Nm of torque, with Auto Start-Stop to save fuel. The engine is mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. The gear shift is a rotary e-shifter, while there’s an electronic parking brake as well.

Eco, Normal, Sport, and Mountain are the four drive modes available on the vehicle.  These enable drivers to adjust to driving in urban areas, on highways, or hilly terrain.

Ford Territory Dark Edition Exterior Design 

The Territory Dark Edition's striking black trims and accents are meant to make it stand out.  It has a robust, self-assured appearance thanks to its satin black grille, high-gloss black skid plate, fog lamp highlights, and mirror caps.

The side displays 19-inch Ebony Black alloy wheels and a high-gloss black roof, roof rails, window trim, and lower guard strip. The rear sports a black "Territory" badge. The special edition comes in four colors: Crystal Pearl White, Lustrous Grey, Panther Black, and Ruby Red.

The Territory Dark Edition features a modern look, emphasising comfort and family-friendly design. The cabin boasts a charcoal black headliner and pillars, and contrasting black perforated leather seats. Bright orange stitching adds a pop of colour and style. The high-gloss black strip on the instrument panel serves as a stylish frame for the 12.3-inch digital cluster and infotainment screen. 

A Bluetooth sound system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connects easily and comes with eight speakers for great sound. Charging options include a wireless charging pad, three USB ports at the front, and one at the back.

Ford Territory Dark Edition Safety

The Territory offers strong safety features for drivers, giving them peace of mind. The car has six airbags, including front, side and curtain airbags, to protect occupants. It includes systems like Blind Spot Information with Cross-Traffic Alert, Adaptive Cruise with Stop and Go, Pre-Collision with Emergency Braking, Lane Keep Assist, Lane Departure Warning, and Lane Change Assist. 

The Dark Edition adds a new 360-degree camera for better visibility around the vehicle. 

Other driver aids are Electronic Stability Control, Traction Control, Emergency Brake Assist, Hill Launch and Descent Control, and Tyre Pressure Monitoring. Security is handled with a smart key Passive Entry and Start system, along with a Thatcham-grade alarm and immobiliser.

The new Ford Territory Dark Edition is priced at R733,000 (AED 151,511). The special Dark edition is also expected to be launched in the Middle Eastern markets.
