Ford has unveiled the Bronco New Energy, a new SUV tailor-made for the Chinese market. It comes in two versions: a fully electric model and a plug-in hybrid (PHEV). This move is part of Ford’s ongoing effort to grow its portfolio of electric SUVs via its joint venture with Jiangling Motors.
Powertrains and Performance
The Bronco New Energy will be offered in two forms: a battery electric vehicle (EV) and an extended-range electric vehicle (EREV). Both are larger and heavier than the current Bronco and Bronco Sport models.

Fully Electric Version (EV): The EV features a 105.4 kWh BYD "Blade" LFP battery. It has dual motors: 130 kW at the front and 202 kW at the rear, giving a combined output of 331 hp. It is equipped with all-wheel drive. The estimated range is up to 650 km based on China’s CLTC cycle.
The top speed of the SUV is rated at 170 kmph. The vehicle weighs 2,630 kg. Its dimensions are 5,025 mm long, 1,956 mm wide, with a wheelbase of 2,950 mm.
Plug-In Hybrid Version (EREV): This model has a 43.7 kWh battery and comes with a dual motor setup. It can run up to 220 km on electric power alone. It features a 1.5-liter petrol engine that develops 145 hp. The front motor produces 174 hp; the rear one develops 241 hp.
The total driving range is around 1,220 km. It offers all-wheel drive or rear-wheel drive (depending on the version). The weight of the car is around 2,510 kg.

Design and Styling
The design combines elements from both the larger Bronco and the Bronco Sport. It has a boxy shape typical of off-road vehicles, with a spare tyre mounted on the tailgate. The rear door swings open from the side.
