Chevrolet has bought a big stake in the hypercar sector as it reveals the 2026 Corvette ZR1X. The ZR1X, which has a blend of muscle-car tradition and electrified performance, is the most powerful and advanced Corvette to date.
The company designed it to take on European rivals as it pushes the limits of speed and technology. It has 1,250 horsepower, eAWD capability, and is able to move from 0 to 100 kph in less than two seconds.
Powertrain and Performance
The ZR1X has the all-new LT7 5.5-litre twin-turbo V8 engine at its core, which delivers 1,064 hp and 1,123 Nm of torque to the rear wheels via an 8-speed dual-clutch gearbox.
The total system output, which is paired with a 186 hp front-mounted electric motor, climbs to 1,250 hp. The electric motor is powered by a 1.9 kWh battery mounted low in the chassis to help offer electric all-wheel drive with no physical link between axles.
Chevrolet claims the sub-2-second 0 to 100 kph time is all thanks to instant electric torque and improved traction. The front motor remains active up to 257 kph, and that contributes to the car’s record-shattering acceleration and control. It has three selectable performance modes, including:
- Endurance.
- Qualifying.
- Push-to-Pass.
Each of these are tuned for unique track conditions.
Advanced Components and Options
- Suspension: Magnetic Ride Control system with two setups that includes touring with Michelin PS4S for mixed use and ZTK Performance Package with Cup 2R tyres and stiffer springs.
- Optional Aero Kit: Carbon Aero Package with rear wing, dive planes, and strakes help deliver 545 kg of downforce.
- Brakes: J59 carbon ceramic system with front having 16.5-inch rotors and 10-piston calipers, rear having 6-piston calipers, and a braking force of up to 1.9G.
Interior Tech and Drive Tools
On the inside, the ZR1X has the latest Corvette cabin with premium finishes, a new console layout, and a three-screen display setup.
There is a new Performance App that helps deliver real-time lap data and car metrics. Standard tech includes Launch Control, Regen Torque Vectoring, and Front Axle Pre-Control for better on-track confidence and handling.
Built in the USA
The ZR1X will be produced at GM’s Bowling Green facility in Kentucky. Each LT7 engine will be built by hand to show that Chevrolet are focusing on performance for this limited-run model.
Customers have the option to choose between coupe and convertible body styles. They will also announce the pricing when the vehicle is closer to being launched in the market.
