Audi R8 facelift slated for 2019 in European markets

ABU DHABI: The currently-sold second generation of Audi R8 has been up for sale since 2015 and it certainly seemed to be the perfect time for the beast to get a facelift makeover. Hence, to keep things as spicy as it has always been, the new version of the car has been unveiled and would be up for sale in the European countries starting from 2019. It will be available in both Coupe as well as the open top Spyder body types.

The new version of the Audi R8 has the styling elements taken from the A1, and we know this by the three slits on the bonnet near the grille. The bumper up front is more outlandish and side inlets are more angular and aggressive. The front splitter is wider than it was before. The rear diffuser is much more expressive now and has the round exhaust outlets around.

The company will be offering three packages for the exterior based on the engine variant chosen. These packages would include inserts and trims like certain highlighted body parts. Apart from this, more details on the Audi badge will also be given. New color tones have joined the lineup, which is the metallic form of Ascari Blue and Kemora Grey.

The cabin will be quite the same as it is presently, albeit the upholstery, which is a refreshment. The company has even made changes to the suspension setup too, in order to make for a better stability. Apart from this, there would even be three new drive settings - snow, wet, and dry.

Under the hood, the new Audi R8 will be powered by the 5.2-litre V10 engine that is derived from Lamborghini. However, the power figures are slightly bumped up. The standard tune of the engine makes 570 PS of power and 550 Nm of torque, around 30 PS and 10 Nm more over the outgoing model.

Moreover, the Performance Quattro, which is a replacement for the V10 Plus, makes 620 PS of power and 580 Nm of torque, which is also 10 PS and 20 Nm more than the outgoing model.

UAE being one of the top markets for the Audi R8, might get it soon after its global launch.
