2023 Toyota Yaris facelift debuts in Thailand with sleeker looks

ABU DHABI: Toyota Motor Thailand has launched the facelifted version of the Toyota Yaris hatchback. It packs a slightly revised interior, a more premium face, and innovative features to become more popular in its segment. In Thailand, the facelift version is available in four trims, namely ‘ ‘Smart,’ ‘Premium,’ Sport,’ and ‘Premium S.’

The updated Toyota Yaris resembles the second-gen Toyota Prius C/Aqua, especially in terms of its front end. It has an updated front fascia and an updated body kit. Most of the cosmetic changes are focused on the front. It features sportier and sharper headlights and an ultra-wide grille, which looks more classy than the simple design of the outgoing version. The rear is quite similar to the outgoing pre-facelift Yaris.

The unique design addition to the Thai-spec Yaris is the revised rear bumper with a carbon fiber pattern and side diffusers. It has high-end equipment, including 15-inch wheels, a 4.2-inch Optitron multi-info display, leather or fabric seat upholstery, keyless engine start, T-Connect telematics, four or six speakers, and a panoramic view monitor. It is connected to a CVT and is paired with a quick stop-and-start system.

The 2023 Thai-spec model also comes in a new color called Cement Gray Metallic, which complements the two-tone paint scheme of the hatchback.

Despite its aggressive looks, the Thai-spec Yaris has the same 1.2-liter naturally aspirated engine that makes 109 Nm and 92 hp. Advanced safety features in the Premium S and Premium variants include Lane Departure Alert, Autonomous Emergency Braking, Blind Spot Monitoring, and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert.

Toyota Motor Thailand also offers three dress-up packages and a range of accessories. The automaker has also adapted to technological advancements by adding a USB Type-C charging port, enabling passengers to charge their smartphones.

With the debut of the facelifted Yaris, it seems you may not see a new model built on the (DNGA) Daihatsu New Global Architecture anytime soon.
