2019 Mitsubishi L200 launched in the UAE

ABU DHABI: The ever popular and highly successful pickup truck from Mitsubishi, the 2019 L200 has been launched in the region. The new 5th generation L200 has bold exterior changes and a fresh new design. The unveiling happened at the Habtoor Grand Resort, Al Habtoor Motors.

Like many new Mitsubishi models, the L200 follows the company’s ‘Dynamic Shield’ design philosophy. You get a high bonnet line with slim lights and flared wheel arches giving it a tough new look. The bumper also gets distinct lighting elements adding to the rugged appeal and visually adding width to the overall look. The bed on the 2019 L200 remains the same as the outgoing version, with a width of 57.8 inches and depth of 18.7 inches.

While the exterior received significant changes, the interior is somewhat similar to the older model. Improvements are seen in the form of nicer materials being used like soft touch console, centre armrest, and a better infotainment system. You also get powered seats that'll help find an ideal driving position easily. Even with all these upgrades, the interiors are still rugged enough to be used on a truck.

Under the hood is a 2.4-litre turbodiesel which churns out 178 bhp. This remains the same as the outgoing model, but Mitsubishi has made modifications to the drivetrain and suspension. The engineers have also developed a new 4-wheel drive system with 2 different setups. These are the Super Select 4WD/Easy Select 4WD and work with five new modes (mud, gravel, snow, sand, and rock). Based on the mode selected, the throttle sensitivity and transmission behaviour changes to maximise the performance in each instance. The suspension has been revised along with new dampers. Braking performance has also been improved thanks to the larger discs and callipers.

Prices for the 2019 L200 start at AED 66,900. Since its debut in the late ‘70s, over 4.7 million L200s have been sold in 150 countries.
