The Mitsubishi L200 is the only pickup truck from Mitsubishi available in UAE. For the UAE market, Mitsubishi has toned down the L200 which does wear the exterior design as well as the interior layout of the more premium Triton pickup truck sold overseas, but minus many cosmetic features. The Mitsubishi L200 is available with a choice of both petrol and diesel engines, in both single and double cab design, bot of which are offered with 2WD and 4WD.
While the Mitsubishi L200 has got the overall cabin layout of the Triton, which itself is shared with that of the Pajero Sport, the cabin lacks a number of features, which are available as standard in the Triton, making the cabin look a bit bare-bones in terms of equipment.
The three-spoke steering wheel as well as the regular looking instrument console are functional and just serve the purpose. And so does the broad centre console of the dashboard, which looks nice with silver bordering on either sides, but comes with a basic 2-DIN music system with 4 speakers and conventional manual AC buttons below it.
The double-cab design of the Mitsubishi L200 provides enough space levels for five passengers with ease, while the loading bah is large and strong enough to carry a sufficient amount of load.
While the cabin of the Mitsubishi L200 lacks many features, it does retain its practicality with a number of cup holders and small storage spaces.
Compared to the previous generation model, the new Mitsubishi L200 looks way much sharper and aggressive, with the overall design of the pickup truck looking similar to the all-new Triton sold overseas.
At the front, the new Mitsubishi L200 wears the same front fascia as that of the Triton, with a sleek and angular two slat grille, which ends up flanking with angular full LED headlamps on either end. The large C-shaped chrome elements come with trapezoidal lighting assemblies within their respective housings on either side, which are a combination of fog lamps as well as turn indicators in blocked forms.
The side profile of the Mitsubishi L200 looks pretty conventional with squared wheel arches and alloy wheels. The rear of the L200 too doesn’t stand out much from the design point of view, unlike the front fascia, as the vertical tail lamps with rounded edges assist the clean design for the deck lid.
To make the chassis as rock solid and unshakable as one would expect, the Mitsubishi L200 has been blessed with independent Macpherson struts at the front and leaf springs at the rear. The suspension feels aptly stiff in the way it is tuned, which is a boon in rough driving conditions, but the ride quality is quite stiff for low-speed urban driving. The 4WD system available in the range-topping variants of the L200 have good low ratio gearing and bottom-end torque, which makes it an effortless vehicle to drive in tough conditions.
The Mitsubishi L200 is being offered with a choice of both petrol and diesel engines, both of which get paired to a common 5-speed manual gearbox in 2WD variants and a 6-speed manual gearbox in 4WD ones. While the 2.4-litre petrol engine produces 128 PS of power and 194 Nm of torque, the 2.5-litre diesel engine manages to produce 128 PS of power and 240 Nm of torque.
For a utilitarian pickup truck, the Mitsubishi L200 is equipped with just the basic level of safety features, the list of which includes dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, tire pressure monitoring system, keyless entry, brake assist, active stability control, and traction control.
It would have been appreciable if Mitsubishi had equipped the L200 with the same level of equipment as the Triton on which it is based, and that would have made the L200 a perfect lifestyle pickup truck with premium aspirations. Nevertheless, for a basic utilitarian pickup, the Mitsubishi L200 has got the basic mechanicals sorted with potent and refined engine options and a sturdy chassis under the skin.
I have always loved traveling on the roads. Even as a child my father used to take us on road trips and I loved roads since then. I took up the profession of the taking loads from one place to another due to this passion. Initially, the business was small, but then I expanded it and it did too well
