Zeekr 9X Launch - Insights into the First Zeekr Hybrid SUV

Abu Dhabi : The Chinese brand has unveiled more details on the upcoming plug-in hybrid SUV.

• The Zeekr 9X boast a modern look with sharp lines, a new grille design and LED headlights.
• The SUV packs a 275-hp 2.0-liter turbocharged engine. Three electric motors add more power to offer a total output of 1381 hp.
• The Zeekr 9X will have two battery options: 55.1kWh and 70kWh, with the latter offering up to 302 km of pure electric driving.

Zeekr, Geely’s luxury electric vehicle division, has introduced its first plug-in hybrid SUV, the Zeekr 9X. This flagship model’s main specifications and features have come to light through filings with China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, as well as official brand updates. Pre-sales are set to begin at the Chengdu Auto Show in late August.

Design and Styling

The SUV features a modern design language. Its robust stance signifies its position as a premium contender in its class. The Zeekr 9X features a bold grille and striking LED headlamps at the front. The large wheelbase translates into plenty of room inside. The aerodynamic look helps it stay stable at high speeds.

The SUV measures 5,239 mm in length, 2,029 mm in width, and 1,819 mm in height. The 3,169 mm wheelbase provides steady handling and contributes to a roomy feel. The kerb weight is over 3 tons, pointing towards a solid, capable build.

Interiors and Technology

Details about the inside of the 9X are still under wraps, but space and comfort are clear focuses. Generous dimensions and the wide wheelbase mean there’s lots of space for everyone inside. The interior matches its luxury status, giving a plush yet subtle cabin without flashy extras. Each part serves the goal of making travel smooth and enjoyable.

The Zeekr 9X is expected to pack advanced tech. It would get a digital cockpit that uses a large, sharp display so drivers can check key info at a glance. The SUV will receive software updates remotely, so its features can stay up to date over time. 

The hybrid system teams with a high-output battery, allowing it to manage energy well. Drivers also get access to real-time updates on metrics related to performance and energy consumption.

Safety Tech

The Zeekr 9X will include advanced safety systems protecting passengers and avoiding trouble on the road. Aspects like adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping, and emergency braking provide additional support. 

In case of a crash, several airbags and a reinforced frame help shield everyone inside. These elements work together to keep you and your passengers safe and comfortable, no matter where your journey takes you.

Powertrain and Performance

The Zeekr 9X runs on a smart plug-in hybrid setup built around the latest SEA-S modular platform. This design gives you both strong performance and good efficiency. Its 2.0-liter turbocharged engine produces 275 hp, with efficiency over 46 per cent, which beats most ordinary hybrid engines, even those with a smaller 1.5-liter size.

Three silicon carbide electric motors add even more power, with a total maximum output of 1,381 hp. The car can sprint from 0-100 kmph in just 3.1 seconds and reaches a top speed of 240 kmph.

The Zeekr 9X gets a CATL Freevoy battery available in two options: 55.1 kWh and 70 kWh. The 70 kWh version stands as the largest battery in any passenger plug-in hybrid. It can deliver up to 302 km of pure electric driving under CLTC testing. 

The battery operates at 900V and charges quickly, reaching 20 to 80 per cent in only 9 minutes with a 6C charging rate. This setup offers the power, range and peace of mind needed for both daily use and long trips.

Launch and Pricing

The Zeekr 9X will open for pre-orders in China at the Chengdu Auto Show in late August. The official release is expected in the third quarter of this year. There is no set date for its UAE debut yet. However, strong interest in hybrids and the brand’s rapid growth in the region suggest it could arrive soon after the China launch. 

Zeekr reports the price will likely fall between 600,000 and 900,000 Yuan, or about 90,000 to 210,000 USD.
