Toyota Land Cruiser Prado turns 35

ABU DHABI: One of the best SUVs in the luxury SUV segment, Toyota Land Cruiser Prado turns 35 this year. The car is among the most reputed ones from the brand Toyota. It was launched in the year 1984. Back then, however, the car was known as Land Cruiser II. A light-duty version of the 70-series Land Cruiser, the vehicle received the name Prado in the year 1990.

Back in 1990, the car had a very different look from the one it hauls now. Toyota had opted for a front end that is softer-looking. In addition to that, the company had also made some changes in the chassis for better on-road manners and rides.

In UAE, Toyota Land Cruiser Prado comes in a total of 8 variants. The top-spec unit is powered by a 4.0-litre V6 engine that gives out a maximum power of 271 hp along with a peak torque of 381 Nm. 

For braking layout, Toyota has opted for Ventilated Disc brake system. The car has Double Wishbone in the front suspension and an Air Spring Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System in the rear. The car has three drive modes. Along with that, glove box cooling option also makes its way.  

Toyota has provided fog lights in the front for better convenience. Along with that, Automatic Climate Control is also present. In addition to that, the car also has an Anti Lock Braking System. Both passenger and driver airbag has been added to the interior for better safety. Toyota Land Cruiser Prado also has a vanity mirror along with an accessory power outlet. Remote fuel lid opener and remote trunk opener add to the benefits of the car. Expected features like cruise control and both front and rear parking sensors have also been included.
