New Skoda Kodiaq GT revealed in China

New Skoda Kodiaq GT revealed in China

ABU DHABI: The Skoda Kodiaq GT is slated for a debut at the upcoming Guangzhou Motor Show on the 6th of November. However, much ahead of that, the company has revealed the car that is exclusive for the Chinese market.

Skoda Kodiaq GT

The Skoda Kodiaq GT looks very similar to the standard model, especially the front section. The two cars have the same wheelbase of 2,791 mm too. However, the front face is slightly redesigned and now has U-shaped honeycomb portion beneath the grille. Even the rear section is slightly redesigned.

According to a notable media in China, the new Skoda Kodiaq GT is 4,634 mm in length, 1,883 mm in width and is 1,649 mm tall. This means that it is shorter, wider (negligible) and lower in dimension than the standard model. However, due to the design and short stature, the GT has just two-row seats inside the cabin. Hence, the maximum occupancy can go up to five people.

Similar to the Scala hatchback, the Kodiaq GT does not have the company’s logo at the rear. Instead, there is the word “KODIAQ” spelled in the area between the registration number plate and the rear windshield.

Inside the cabin, things look quite similar to the setting of the standard Kodiaq. The digital instrumentation is standard, along with many other features and drivers’ assistances like AEB (autonomous emergency brakes), adaptive cruise control and a stop & go function.

Under the hood, the Chinese-only model will be available with a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder gasoline engine in two tunings - 186 PS and 220 PS. The power would be sent down to all the four wheels via a 7-speed dual clutch gearbox.

Interestingly, this Skoda Kodiaq GT is a China-only model and will be manufactured and sold in the country only. Deliveries will begin anytime in 2019.
