New 2018 Porsche Macan facelift unveiled: What’s new?

ABU DHABI: Porsche recently unveiled facelifted model of the Macan in Shanghai, China. There are not a plethora of changes in the new car considering that it is a facelift, but Porsche did incorporate a few new elements that are worth a look.

In terms of aesthetics, the headlights get new LED modules with a 3D design. The front bumper has been slightly tweaked for a tad bit more width. At the rear, where the most prominent and biggest aesthetic change has been made, we have the new 3D LED strip that joins the two tail lights. Porsche has also provided four new color options - Miami Blue, Mamba Green Metallic, Dolomite Silver Metallic, and Crayon.

Jumping into the interior of the facelifted Macan, the first change you will notice is the new bigger touchscreen in the centre console. Porsche has replaced the old 7-inch unit with the new 11-inch screen, which is a welcome addition. This chnage has been done under the Porsche Communication Management. To accommodate the new larger screen, the air-con vents have to be relocated and they now sit below the screen.

The facelifted Macan gets a new Traffic Jam Assist feature. This will work in conjunction with the other various driving aids available in the car. It has been programmed to come into play in traffic congestion at speeds of up to 60 kmph.

Then we have the Connect Plus module. Porsche says that this makes every new Macan fully networked. This allows the car to support many digital functions like intelligent voice control and real-time traffic information with ‘Here Cloud’ connection offering swarm-based traffic data. You can also record data when you’re off-roading via the Offroad Precision App.

Porsche has not released any details regarding the engine options but it has been being speculated that the top-of-the-line variant is going to be powered by a 2.9-litre bi-turbo V6, with 440 hp and 550 Nm, replacing the current 3.6-liter turbo V6. The new engine is already handling duties in the Panamera 4S and the Cayenne 4S. With the new engine and finely tuned chassis, the performance, stability, and comfort of the new Macan are expected to improve.

There are no details regarding the price of the facelift Macan. We are hoping to get them pretty soon.
