Meet the 2026 GMC Hummer EV - Now Quicker, Intelligent, and Durable

Abu Dhabi : These upgrades make the Hummer EV perfectly suited for tough outdoor adventures.

• The 9,000-pound EV truck can now sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 2.8 seconds.
• Adding King Crab mode has enabled easier turns on rough trails
• Other crucial updates include 35-inch tires, underbody armor, UltraVision camera, four-wheel steering and adaptive suspension.

The 2026 GMC Hummer EV returns with big upgrades that improve both on-road and off-road driving. Known for its audacious looks and electric power, the new version offers smarter steering and quicker acceleration. It also adds more features to handle tough off-road conditions. 

Most Exciting Update - The King Crab Mode 

One of the most exciting alterations is the new King Crab rear steering system. It improves on the original CrabWalk feature, which lets the Hummer EV move diagonally at low speeds. This is further improved by King Crab, which makes the back wheels turn a bit faster than the front wheels. It helps the big EV make tighter turns, especially on rough tracks.

The system will be included in both the 2026 pickup and SUV versions. Current Hummer EV owners will also get this update through a software download.

Performance Boost

The 2026 model now comes packed with a new 24-module battery that boosts speed. This has reduced the 0-60 mph sprint time to 2.8 seconds from the earlier 3 seconds, making it one of the fastest electric trucks available today. The truck also has bidirectional charging, meaning it can transfer power to another electric vehicle or supply a home during a power outage.

GMC’s hands-free highway system, Super Cruise, has also been improved. It is now able to automatically change lanes if the route is set in the navigation system.

The Mechanism Behind Speed Boost

Engineers increased the inverter limits to draw more power from the battery for the drive units. They adjusted the slip targets to handle the extra power and control wheel slip better. Ride quality improved with smarter semi-active dampers that work more effectively. 

The spring rates stayed the same, but a more damping force was added to better control vertical movement. GM also changed how the control units are managed, unlocking more power for the vehicle.

2026 GMC Hummer - Off-Road Adventures at a Glance

The Hummer EV already handles rugged off-road terrain well. The new version adds more features for challenging trails. 

• One of these is Extract Mode, which raises the vehicle about 6 inches. This helps it clear large rocks or deep water more easily. 
• The Extreme Off-Road Package adds 35-inch tyres for better grip on rough ground. 
• Underbody armor shields key components from rocks and rough terrain. 
• The UltraVision Cameras offer up to 18 different views, including cameras under the front and back. This makes spotting obstacles easier for the driver. 
• Four-wheel steering makes sharp turns easier and reduces the space needed to turn around.
• The Adaptive Air Suspension changes the height automatically. It gives a softer ride on paved roads and more ground clearance off-road.
