Hennessey unveils 350 bhp VelociRaptor Ford Ranger

ABU DHABI: The Ford Ranger Raptor is one mean truck, and unfortunately, it is not available in the US market. So, instead of waiting around for Ford to release it, Hennessey Performance took the regular Ranger and worked their magic on it. Hence the VelociRaptor Ford Ranger was born. In the US, the Ranger is powered by a 2.3-litre 4-cylinder EcoBoost engine which churns out 270 PS and 420 Nm of torque. Hennessey has upgraded this with a few new systems like engine management, high-flow air induction, and a stainless catback exhaust to produce 350 PS and 520 Nm of torque. This translates to a 0-97 kmph time of 6.1 seconds, a whole 1.3 seconds quicker than stock.

The power output is not the only thing Hennessey has worked on, the VelociRaptor Ranger also gets a Stage 1 off-road suspension upgrade that elevates the Ranger by 4 inches. Other additions include a new front bumper with integrated LED lights, fender flare set, and 17-inch Hennessey alloys wrapped in BFG off-road tires. Optionally you also get a roof mounted LED light bar and a winch.

Founder and CEO John Hennessey said at the launch, “We are so excited to introduce our 2019 Hennessey VelociRaptor upgrades for the 2019 Ford Ranger truck. The demand for our VelociRaptor upgrades for the Ford Raptor truck has been incredible over the past 10 years. We are thrilled to be able to offer increased power, performance – on and off-road all packed in our exclusively branded VelociRaptor package.”

We do not think the VelociRaptor will make it to our region officially. Out in the US, the package will cost USD 19,950 (AED 73,300 approx) if you already own a Ranger. A completely new VelociRaptor will cost USD 64,950 (AED 2,38,560 approx). According to Hennessey, production is limited to 500 units and will come with a 3-year/36,000 mile warranty.
