Ford Edge ST revealed in a teaser video

ABU DHABI: Remember the Ford Edge that was launched way back in 2006? The second generation of the car was introduced back in 2014 with a pair of EcoBoost (turbocharged) engines along with a naturally-aspirated motor. The company has now revealed a teaser image of the latest Edge ST, a performance version of the crossover.

The video trailer shows a lot about this new Ford Edge ST and the best thing about it is how the engine grunt sounds. One of the spokespersons in the video says that this car is for the people who don’t want to compromise on the performance.

The Ford Edge ST is powered by a 2.7-litre V6 EcoBoost engine that can thump out a maximum power of 335 horses. The power is sent down to the wheels via an 8-speed automatic gearbox and can hit a top speed of over 130 mph (which is roughly 210 kmph).

Apart from the performance section, the new Edge ST has also been given improved seats for better ergonomics along with better braking prowess. Plus, the car now sounds like a typical sports car that zooms past you on a race track.

According to Ford, ST means ‘Sports Technology’ and has a rich history of over 20 years. The vehicles which get the ST treatment have enhanced handling and performance to offer a very thrilling driving experience.

However, it is to be noted that this new Ford Edge has not been announced for any other country other than the North Americas. Hence, it remains to be seen if at all the ST will hit the middle east shores or not.

Date back to the first generation, the company did have a one-off ST variant for the Focus in the country but was a press-display model and never reached the official availability. However, we can be optimistic about it here as the company has begun bringing the performance-based version of its models.
