Audi has started selling the new A6 sedan at its dealerships. The carmaker revealed the sixth-generation A6 last month. Like the estate version, this sedan is built on VW’s Premium Platform Combustion (PPC). Interestingly, the all-electric A6 e-tron shares the identical name but is based on the electric skateboard platform called Premium Platform Electric.
Audi A6 exterior styling
Most design cues from the A6 Avant are carried over into the sedan, except for the longer rear end. The front of the new A6 has a sharper look with slimmer, angular LED headlights, a sculpted bonnet, a wider honeycomb grille, and sporty air curtains framing the bumper.

The muscular fenders flow into the side profile, which features chunky door-mounted mirrors and 20-inch alloy wheels. Standard wheels are 18 inches, but buyers can upgrade to wheels as large as 23 inches. Audi also claims a drag coefficient of 0.23 for this version, making it the most aero-efficient petrol-powered A6 to go into production.
At the back, the tailgate is made from steel rather than aluminium to help reduce drag. The tail lamps are connected with LED light strips that feature sequential turn signals. The bumper is sporty, finished in silver, with functional dual exhaust outlets.
Audi A6 interiors and comfort
The interior of the new A6 sedan closely matches that of the A6 Avant. The dashboard is dominated by three screens, with the passenger screen being optional. The main infotainment system is a 14.5-inch curved touchscreen that runs on Android Automotive OS. It supports updates over the air and can run apps like YouTube and Spotify.
The system also includes ChatGPT, working alongside the standard Audi voice assistant. It can respond to voice commands and control various vehicle functions.

The driver’s view is centred around an 11.9-inch fully digital instrument cluster. An optional 10.9-inch passenger display works as an extension of the main screen. Inside, the car features a new four-spoke steering wheel and a premium 685W Bang & Olufsen sound system with 16 speakers. Customers can choose an upgraded 810W system with 20 speakers.
The mood lighting uses 84 LEDs to create a relaxing atmosphere. Other options include a panoramic glass roof that switches from opaque to clear at the press of a button, a heads-up display, four-zone climate control, and soft-close doors. Audi says the interior uses better-quality materials and offers 30 per cent more sound insulation.
The rear seats fold in a 40:20:40 split to make more room when needed.
Powertrains and performance
In international markets, the new A6 comes with three mild-hybrid engines similar to those in the latest Q5 SUV and A5 sedan. The entry-level engine is a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo petrol producing 204 hp and 340 Nm of torque. A 2.0-liter turbo diesel option also offers 204 hp and 400 Nm. For those seeking a sportier drive, there is a 3.0-liter turbo V6 with 367 hp and 550 Nm.

The 4-cylinder petrol model does not get all-wheel drive, only front-wheel drive. The diesel and V6 versions can be equipped with quattro all-wheel drive, which can send up to 70 per cent of power to the rear wheels.
The petrol and diesel 2.0-liter versions can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in around 8.2 and 7.8 seconds, respectively, with the quattro diesel completing the sprint in just 6.9 seconds. The V6 engine is very quick, taking just 4.7 seconds to reach 100 kmph.
Suspension and dynamics
The A6 is built with a five-link suspension at both front and rear, mainly made of aluminium. Buyers can also add a sport suspension that lowers the car by 20mm. Adaptive air suspension is available and can lift or lower the A6 by as much as 20mm. For the first time, the air suspension can be controlled using voice commands through the infotainment system.
Price and competitors
The new Audi A6 Sedan is being built in Neckarsulm. The price for the basic model starts at 55,500 euros (AED 240,000). It faces stiff competition from more modern models like the BMW 5 Series and Mercedes-Benz E-Class.
