Abu Dhabi : Xiaomi's YU7 SUV has broken the record for pre-order with bold looks, rapid charging, and a cabin that is filled with luxury-packed. It raises questions about its position next to electric giants like the Model X.

The YU7, following its global price reveal, had more than 240,000 pre-orders in just 18 hours, which proves it has the potential to rival big names like the Tesla Model X and BMW iX3 in the UAE market.

Design and Dimensions

Xiaomi built the YU7 for visual impact and efficiency in aerodynamics. It has waterdrop-style headlights, a clamshell aluminium hood, and flush electric door handles. There are slim halo taillights that offer sharp night visibility at the back. The SUV, with a Cd drag coefficient of 0.245, balances form and function. Its dimensions reflect its premium class:

Interior Comfort and Storage

The vehicle has a generous storage space, with 678 litres in the main boot, a 141-litre front trunk, and up to 1,758 litres available when the rear seats are folded. This makes it ideal for long road trips or family use.

The YU7 runs on a dual-motor AWD setup that produces 690hp and 866Nm to push the SUV from 0 to 100km/h in just 3.23 seconds. Top speed is 253km/h, which puts it among the fastest electric SUVs available.

Battery options include a 96.3kWh unit offering up to 835km (CLTC) range in the base model. The Pro and Max versions offer slightly less due to tuning in performance.

The YU7 charges up to 80% in 12 minutes, and has a 5.2C fast-charging system on an 800V silicon carbide platform. A 15-minute top-up adds 620km to drastically cut wait times.
