Mitsubishi Xpander Hybrid set to arrive in 2024

ABU DHABI: The Japanese manufacturer Mitsubishi's best-selling 7-seater Xpander MPV is getting its dose of electrification. The company has announced that the hybrid variant of Xpander will debut in 2024. The upcoming Xpander HEV will arrive in the Thai market and Indonesia first, and then it will be launched in Malaysia.

    As part of the 'New Environmental Plan Package' of Mitsubishi, the hybrid model will join Mitsubishi's lineup of electrified vehicles like the Eclipse Cross PHEV and Outlander PHEV. It could get its powertrain from the Delica D:2 that is sold in Japan.

    A few more models that the company will launch in FY 2023 include ASX, the Colt, Triton, Delica Mini, and a compact SUV. As for 2025, Mitsubishi plans to launch a 3-row petrol-powered SUV and PPV. 

    The Xpander MPV is already performing well in terms of sales in the UAE, and the addition of a hybrid variant could attract a wider range of customers. The Xpander is a compact 7-seat MPV that costs around AED 60,000. The company has not hinted about the launch of the hybrid model in the UAE market. We will have to wait to find out if Mitsubishi will offer the MPV's electrified version for the UAE.
